I didn't realize everyone's records were so close - we have reached an NFL-like level of parity.

I actually typed "mediocrity", then replaced it when I thought of the NFL analogy.  Great minds think alike.  Or at least we do.

Recap:

Mark McGwire homered four times and drove in eight as The Creamy Pirates used a 10-run eighth inning to down The OC 24-19 on Monday at Tengen Field to take sole possession of first place in the Gantry Division.

Bill Madlock added two homers and six RBI for The Creamy Pirates (6-3), who swept the season series from the defending Fantasy RBI World Series champions.  Tim Raines stole a pair of bases, while Kirby Puckett was 3-for-5 in his first game since dying earlier in the month.

The OC (5-4) looked to have things in control after scoring 13 runs in the sixth through eighth innings. However, The Creamy Pirates unloaded on relievers Fernando Valenzuela and John Franco, with home runs from Madlock and pinch hitters Larry Herndon and Al Pedrique.

Offensively, Bill Buckner led The OC with four hits (including a home run), four runs and three RBI.

Due to a computer error, we don't have game video of The Unholy Legions of Doom at The Fighting Tony Danzas (or it was blacked out in your area), so we'll go straight to the recap...

Recap:

Every time The Unholy Legions of Doom woudl break out to a big lead on Tuesday at Tengen Stadium, The Fighting Tony Danzas would chip back away at their lead. But in the end, they fell one rally too short, as The Unholy Legions of Doom held on for a tense 26-22 victory over their Doverbi Division rivals.

Will Clark provided The Unholy Legions of Doom (4-5) with the insurance runs they would need in the top of the ninth inning with a grand slam. It was Clark's third home run of the game and his season-leading 10th RBI.

The Fighting Tony Danzas (4-5) tried to put together a ninth-inning rally, scoring twice and having the bases loaded with one out. But Mike Schmidt's single into right field turned out to do more harm than good. John Morris, who was on first before the hit, was forced out at second base on a bullet throw from Jose Canseco. From there, Doug Corbett was able to get Reggie Jackson to fly out to end the game.

Perhaps The Fighting Tony Danzas' worst enemy was themselves, stranding nine runners and committing three errors that led to five unearned runs. Morris and Schmidt each had four RBI in the losing effort.

Game Recap:

Parish State University kept The Nimrods in their Gantry Division game on Wednesday for a long time, but eventually decided to make the kill. They used a 12-run flurry in the final two innings to pull away for a 21-11 victory in a game called after eight innings because of the mercy rule.

Wally Joyner had two home runs and five RBI for Parish State (4-5), while Ozzie Smith added a pair of doubles and a stolen base. Parish State jumped out to an early 4-0 lead and never trailed, despite having The Nimrods (3-6) close to lead to within one run on three different occasions.

Pedro Guerrero homered and drove in five for The Nimrods, who hurt their own cause by stranded nine base runners.
