Hey guys, I made that video and had to swing in to see what the good people at dee-nee.com had to say.  I figured that some people would notice those two statistics, the series game total and the strikeouts.  I kept hte hits accurate, the runs scored in the right innings, but striking guys out was by far the easiest way to get to the bottom of the tenth the fastest so i thought the trade off was well worth it.  it probably took about ten hours total, four to emulate the footage, six or so to edit.  but that's a mere drop in the bucket in terms of total time in my life spent playing RBI, so it was truly a labor of love.  God bless the internet and god bless RBI Baseball.

Good job, bro. Can you do one of coleman throwing a firecracker?

JoeDirt

Yes--that was a quality, quality video.  I salute you.  Would you mind if "we" put the video on "our" site to keep it forever in the RBI files?

Also, I'm officially calling for more RBI video.  Awesome touch on the Marty Barrett Miller Light Player of the Game.

The dee nee tard mixed in with gantry looks a little bit like TBT

I noticed the runs, and I thought maybe the hits were accurate as well.

Great, great work.

I agree - now that we have the ROM editor, more classic moments should be recreated.

there are also folks complaining about the lack of Bobby Grich, Dwight Evans, and Willie Randolph.

I like how everyone just gathered around to watch.  It would have been enjoyable if the first base ump was still in his "Out" position though.

i didn't really know how to stage the picture.  basically this incident happened before the game during batting practivce i believe, and was before the fourth game of the nlcs against the dodgers.

so use the picture as inspiration.  there's all sorts of incidents worthy of a few artistic efforts.  some other ideas include:

george brett pine-tar incident.  reggie's three-homer game against the dodgers in the world series.  the canseco homerun bop off his head, etc.

Also from the 1985 World Series, the infamous Don Denkinger play in Game 6.

Gantry

Seriously, I expect emails, PMs and pages if I let such threads slip by me.  This is the first time I saw it and I all I can say is "awesome"

Caveman

Thanks for the headline gantry or whoever else may have been behind that for it may have slipped by me.

That's awesome to quote everybody else. Having Scully on the mic makes this unbeatable. I've never actually seen or heard the complete inning, what a backbreaker.

crashing bore

As fscking cool as the whole thing is, i find it disappointing that anyone that would try and do something similar is looked down upon (in reference to the Fox article). I'm having a hard time believing that this was the first time this has ever been done in the history of gaming. Perhaps it is the best attempt yet but it would be no less great if it had been done before in similar fashion.

The music comparison is exactly why this claim is horse puckey. To think that "Seriously, it's like The Vines following in the footsteps of The White Stripes or The Strokes" is proof that it'd be "pathetic" isn't scoring any points. If dude doesn't comprehend that TWS and The Strokes are completely ripping off bands that came before them, then that is sad.

Really, the vid is great and I've passed the link on to some people. Even made the wife watch it! Just not down with the attitude that came with the 15 minutes. That is why I dig most of you guys here. It is rare that anyone comes off as being overly superior to someone else without a little genuine self deprecation thrown in at some point. :)
