I got some RBI lined up w/ the natester, for the 1st time in a long time.
But lets not talk about the usual "evenly matched" teams game, or cotut based match-ups.

lets look at some other not so highly publicized games.
How bout SF vs DET, or NY vs BOS, or Cal vs MIN.  Not your usual run of the mill games.

I wanna go back to my roots.  4 of us back in the day. we each get 2 teams, and set up brackets with seeds.  It leads to some favorable, and unfavorable match-ups, but the games were never easy.

SF vs DET.  The SF starters are capable of sawing off some DET bats.  All those lefties getting jammed on hard curves.  With all the lefties for DET, Crew-cut and Reuschel are gonna be nasty.  Jamming the hitters and nibbling the outside corners.  Those 2 and Garrelts have pretty strong drop balls as well.  When ever facing SF theres a lot to think about as a hitter.  On the other side of the fence, SF has some legit pop in the order.  other than Alexander, there aint much going for DET.

NY VS BOS.  Not my favorite match-up when Im NY.  Just cause the Doc vs all thoser righties is a situation i struggle in.  This is a situation where i love to start Ojeda, and then go straight to Orosco.  Give the righty line up a steady does of lefties to keep em off guard.  I save Doc for later where he comes in after the 5th or 6th, and can be fairly liberal at applying the friggin heat since he wont need to work as many innings.  Joe Dirt might argue this one about not starting the Doc, but its a personal preference with all those righties.  Save the good and nasty stuff for late and let Gooden do what he does best.  The 2 lefties have decent drop balls as well.  should be able to get outta some jams that way.

On the other side.  Obviously your prolly gonna start Rocket here. The somewhat lefty predominant line-up(if thats how you keep it) presents some challenges to Clemens.  NY lacks some pop, so Clemens is able to attack(go after) the lineup more than the NY pitchers.  It kinda comes down to NY having 3 quality arms against only 2 of Bos, with the much bigger Bos bats making things real....uh....even.   ;D

CAL vs MIN.  When using the Cal pitchers its pretty important to work around the big dogs, in Hrbek, and Brunansky.  Then for the most part with thier stamina, and MIN's lack of power you can atack and challenge the MIn hitters to try and conserve some pitches.  If this strategy works out, you can really rack up the innings with these 2 guys.  Possibly dont even need to go to the relievers.

For MIN bertus can be the great equalizer.   In some ways Viola almost mirrors Bert.  just not as much movement, stamina, and he's missing the drop ball bert posesses.  so yeah he's really not like bert that much.  reardon aint bad...also the mixed Cal line-up might help him keep a few guys on thier toes long enuf to close out the game.  Cal should have the fire power to take this one, but a great performance by the mounder of Min is all it'll take.

that is all.

that bastard.  so i figured he could give me some solid insight on NY.  in a few PM's he was unable to tell me jack about a gameplan or strategy with NY's pitchers.  You'd think he could half ass master 1 team if he used them all the time.  guess not.

NY's pitching is great.  if you can get through 6 innings with Gooden with a lead you should win.....Ojeda and Orosco are beasts.  just keep it on the outside and use finnesse rather than blowing someone's doors down.

Are you kidding me?  Out of 20 times being Ny vs. Bo, I'd start Ojeda 20 times...maybe even more.  The ideal game for me would be to get 6 strong out of Ojeda and 3 out of Orosco.

Octo and I used the NY/Bo matchup for about six games (1SP) Friday night, I'm not too familar with Boston, and by the time this matchup came around we were both about 11 sheets to the wind, but I don't mind admitting that I was absolutely dominated by Orosco for the better part of the night.

I suck against sidearmers.

TbT

lots of people suck against sidearm pitchers.  they give nate and i fits.  Orosco has some pretty decent stuff too, so he can dominate.

It was pathetic though, due to the drunkeness I swung at pretty much every pitch, and pretty much every pitch was on the outside (I hate righty lineups) and was promptly grounded to short. One of the games, it wasn't until the 6th inning before I finally hit one in the air.

drinking and ATG do not mix.  like friday in columbutt when we played.   i was ok to pitch, but not ok to bat.   :P

friends dont let friends drink and bat!

i notice that a lot of people suck against sidearmers, but it seems to me that they give up more gopher balls than regular pitchers.

good observation.  this may be a job for nightwulf.  since a sidearmer has a different release point than a regular pitcher, maybe this has a slight effect to where thier pitch ends up at the end of its break/curve.
