Thought I would add a little more commentary on the tourney, sorry for the lack of updates towards the end of the night....

After my 23-21 victory in game one (well, it was actually game 1.5 because the game reset in the 3rd inning or our original game when I was up 8-1), Potsie came out swinging.  Game two of the finals was a quick slaughter by Potsie in three innings.  I don't really remember the game, but I'm sure it was an ass-whooping....

In the final game, I was beating Potsie for most of the game when he came through with the clutch performance.  He had something like 14 runs in the final three innings to seal the deal.  Once again, details are sketchy but I believe it was something like 23-20.  Potsie probably knows for sure...

Like a true sportsman, I stormed down into my room, tipped over my couch,  and destroyed my Dead Kennedy's poster and alarm clock.  Some analyses:

Gantry - I played extremely well throughout the tourney, but stumbled at the end when I had the victory in my grasp.  My tolerance is well below the days of college and that was my death blow.  I was 6-1 in games I remember playing and 0-2 in games I did not.  Spent way too much time bitching and complaining, especially after the reset in game one.  I was all piss-n-vinegar at that point.  Tolerance and emotion were my biggest enemies.  Good hitting and absurd behavior summed up my tourney...

Potsie - Potsie was actually slumping coming into the tourney, but played well throughout.  He stayed consistent from beginning to end and that's why he's the champion.  It's truly amazing how well he played with Boston.  Going into the tourney he rarely used the BoSox, opting to get some games in with Cali.  Potsie was too clutch for me and that's why he has the belt....

Sperling - Words cannot describe how shitty Sperling was on Saturday.  For an RBI founding father, his play was disgraceful.  He couldn't swing for shit, and had one fucking run going into the bottom of the 9th against
Lips.  To his defense, he was only playing about once a month around tourney time.  But that just shows a lack of heart on his part.  Next year we are bringing in some friends and having a qualifying tourney.  Potsie and I get automatic semi-final bids, but Sperling & Lips gotta beat the up-and-comers.  If Sperling plays like that again, he won't make the tourney next year...

Lips - Very surprised at how horribly Lipitz played.  He had no business sticking around as long as he did.  He never scored more than 12 runs in any game (while I had 16 or more in all my semi-final games), yet was pulling out early victories left and right.  That 7-6 victory over Sperling was truly disgusting.  He wasn't even swinging that poorly, but all his hits were going nowhere.  The patented Lipitz late-swing homers were also nowhere to be seen.  All-in-all it was a bad day for Lips, but I expect him to be in the thick of things next year...

In the next week or so, Lips and I will get around to making a tourney 2002 page, complete with box scores & pictures.  So stay tuned...

as the old saying goes...  that's why they play the game.  props to potsie for pulling it out when it counts.  the chowds stepped it up when it counts.  i guess the curse of the bambino doesnt carry over to the tengen universe.  i doubt that their rbi championship will give the new englanders any solace though.
Strange things are afoot at the Circle K

I love playing games that I don't remember in the morning.  Also, it is fun to tell Stuart about games that he doesn't remember.  Note to Gantry: There is a General here on base today by the last name of Zettler.  Surely there aren't that many Zettlers in the world.  You know him?

Next-morning storyteller is Potsie's job.  He outdrinks everyone yet still remembers what happened...

I doubt I know General Zettler, there's more of us out there than you think.  Too high of a rank for my family...
