These two RBI'ers hold the distinction of being the only two men who were able to hit more than 300 home runs during the 80's.  #1 hit 313 and #2 hit 308 during the 80's.

For bonus points, 5 other RBI'ers round out the top ten men of power during the decade of my formative years.  Feel free to name them as well.

Shooty

Schmidt and Murphy are the two that come to mind.

ericdavisfan

Correct

Mike Schmidt hit more homers than anyone in the 80's and Dale "the Ultimate Male" Murphy was #2.

Anyone want to take a shot at the others.  #4 is an RBI'er, I believe.  I'll have to confirm the others later because the book that I took this from is at home.

#4 Dawson?

No, #4 is a more unlikely candidate than Dawson.   I believe Dawson is in the top 10 though

I have a stats program that can generate these lists, so I can help with the answers.  I won't give away all the answers, but Dawson is indeed top 10, he is fifth with 250 HRs.

Rice is 12th with 210 HRs.

Reggie is 18th with 194 HRs.

Rickey had 137 HRs, not sure how many Riskey had.

Danny Ainge had 0 HRs in 357 ABs.

I can;t figure out who #4 could be, Baines?

#12
I don't think I ever would have guessed the answer, I even looked at his baseball reference page once, scanned the stats and passed, then went back again and added up the numbers after so many other possibilities were out.

While your answer is correct, I wouldn't say Dewey hit a ton of HRs, during the 80's the most he hit in a single season was 34 (1987 juiced ball year), and only over 30 2 other times, he was just consistenly between 18 and 34 helped out by the fact that not a lot of players played 9.67 full seasons in the 80's

o.k., well maybe not a ton of homers if you are comparing it to todays game where the ball is not the only thing thats juiced... 30 homers in the early 80's was kinda like what 40 is today.
