As far as the arcade RBIer, I'd say Winfield.

8 - Non-RBI'er, but Rack loves his replacement - 225 homers

I don't even understand this one...

Matt Nokes replaced Lance Parrish after he signed with Philly.

It's been called to my attention that this thread is bogus.  Brunansky hit 230 HRs in the 80s.  While it might be obvious to many that he should be IBBed to get to Gagne/Bush/etc, it wasn't to all, apparently...

Wrong.

Brunansky hit 208 homers between 1981 and 1989.  Thanks for playing though

JoeDirt

I blame Attezz for this!

Is 1980 not part of the 80's?

ultimate7

It is, but since Brunansky didn't play in 1980, EDF didn't include it

What he said.

Two RBI'ers (and the only 2 guys in mlb history) to have a 30+ homer season in 99 games or less are Kevin Mitchell and Mark McGwire.

Mitchell in '94 (30 hr, 95 games)
McGwire in 2000 (32 hr, 89 games)

Mitchell's season was incredible, .341 avg, and a .681 slg%

Just something interesting I thought I'd post.

Here are the top 10 hr hitters from 1980-1989, let's see how many are NES RBI'ers....

1. Schmidt -----313
2. Murphy ------308
3. Murray ------274
4. Dw Evans ----256
5. Dawson ------250
6. Da Evans ----230
7. Armas -------225
8, Lan Parrish --225
9. Winfield -----223
10. Ja Clark ----216
11.Strawberry--215
12.Rice----------210
13.Brunansky---208
14. G Carter----207
15.Ripken-------204
16.Hrbek-------201
17.Barfield-----197
18. R Jackson--194
19.Brett--------193
20.Fisk---------192

Ok, top 20 then.  15 of them are RBI'ers

Here are the top 10 in batting average in the 1980's:

1. Boggs (.3522)
2. Gwynn (.3320)
3. Puckett (.3234)
4. Mattingly (.3232)
5. Carew (.3137)
6. Brett (.3108)
7. Guerrero (.3082)
8. Al Oliver (.3074)
9. Yount (.3046)
10. W Clark (.3038)

11.Raines (.3026)
12.Molitor (.3009)
13.Hernandez (.3001)
14. C Cooper (.2998)
15.Franco (.2977)

11 of the top 15 are RBI'ers here.

The top whatever in rbi's in the 80's:

1.Murray 996
2.Schmidt 929
3.Murphy 929
4.Dw Evans 900
5.Winfield 899
6.Dawson 895
7.Rice 868
8.Brett 851
9.Baines 835
10.Yount 821
11.Parker 809
12.G Carter 800
13.Lan Parrish 764
14. J Clark 751
15.Ripken 744
16.Hernandez 735
17.Buckner 728
18.Hrbek 724
19.Guerrero 722
20.Mattingly 717

15/20 RBI'ers imagine that..........(!) Enjoy.

Metal King

Oops, Mitchell had only a .326 with a .681 Slg% in '94 my bad.  Also 77 rbi that year, in 310 ab's.  Had the .341 with a .601 Slg% in '93.

I just checked, McGwire's season was even more incredible:  32 hr, 72 total hits, .305 avg, .746 Slg %, 60 runs, 73 rbi in just 236 atbats.  Big Mac had 39 hr in '95 with just 87 Hits.

Mitchell didn't even play in '95, probably something to do with the strike, came back in '96 and hit over .300+ with 2 teams in limited time, retired 2 years later having barely played, he was just getting good again.

Still gotta love his barehanded catch in Left Field though.
