Dear Dee-Nee Forum:

The day that t stumbled across this page is a day that will live on in the hearts of us here in Worcester, Ma.  A brethren of dedicated and talented men forged itself online and we were humbled to even be invited to participate in the activity.  We both have nothing but respect and reverence for this site and its members.
However, as we have discussed on many occasions, we feel a bit different than most on the site. I know that everyone plays a bit differently at times, but we feel a bit out of the circle when it comes to the death game. Me and t arent really drinkers, and we play most of our games sober and curve pitch.  Im not saying that our way is superior at all, for i believe that playing drunk must take jedi like skill to be able to do. Im just hoping that our style of play is not looked down upon or mocked by the upper echilon of the fourm, and possibly felt we could be made commissioners and head PR men of the "wagon league" style of play.  Once again, we thank you for this opportunity.

sincerely,

bban and t

Thanks for the kind words...  And I would wager that most people on this forum play the sober, curve-style game.  Guys like Dill and the Pines crew do dabble in death, but for the most part they play the same way you do (correct me if I'm wrong guys)....

I would say that we and the UCONN crew (mookie, yankeessuck) are the only ones who play death on a regular basis.  Besides, the RBI community is too small for factions and elitism, any style is smiled upon....

For the most part, we usually play sober up at Uconn. We mostly use Death as a good way to start off an evening of drinking.   A few games of the RBI Drinking game is a great way to pregame before a night on the town.  But more often than not, we play sober.

Me and Joe have played a few death games, but usually just play regular curve style, Burnzky is only 14, so no death for him yet.

I'm trying to start up a RBI Gambling game, played same way, except drinking 4 for a HR, you will have to pay your opponent like 4 quarters, or dimes, maybe even dollars, probably not though.  Not sure if it will be better to pay each other, or to put all the money in a hat or someting then winner takes all. We will eperiment with it.

rbi baseball is more enjoyable sober than it is during death...   we hold no judgement towards anyone and their lifestyle...  as long as you play the game.

i am just a little surprised that jim rice was only a step above whitaker... in my book he is one of the best.

indeed....i figured that after lou whitaker they would step it up to wally joyner or dewey evans....rice's nickname is RBI...so he would be the tops.....whos next i wonder...probalby potatoes....

Potatoes is the top, there are only five levels.  RBI is good but definitely not at Potatoes.  I also wanted to include players from different teams, so Rice seemed like a logical choice...

In response to the death vs sober play, we have been playing death A LOT of the time lately.  During the afternoon, we play sober (most of the time), but death has become rather routine for the late night.  Even though my wife loves the game, she is not a big fan of death at all.  Mainly because me and Stu play until we can't remember shit from the night before.  And because she is pregnant, she can't play death with us, or she might come around to liking it.

i guess that potatoes would be the logical top choice...no arguments there....whitaker to rice seemed big, but if you only have 5 choices, it all makes sense....

as far as i am concerned... gibby is a much more terrifying presence at the plate than potatoes... but of course, that is just my opinion... dont want anyone to get offended.

I play using non-alcoholic beverages, like Coke and Dr. Pepper. The caffiene buzz is a serious hinderance alone. :)

Yes, surprisingly, I have a wife, and she is carrying the future RBI champion of the year 2020 we just found out.   I'll be waiting for the day when this kid can beat me in RBI.
