I don't know the age range here but I have my 10 year old picking up and playing RBI. I couldn't help but laugh at him. He was complaining about the guys are too fat and slow, how do you change players in the field, how to bunt, where are the curve balls, etc... He said something to effect of "this is it?" I ended the killing with a 17-2 score (I picked Boston and he got Cali). How in the hell he hit a 2 run homer off me is amazing. He was running all the way out to the wall with Schofield. It was a trip. And you know he did the "ball hitting the side of the wall while you try to throw" ordeal.  Is there a name for that? He was pretty pissed. But at the same time, I was laughing and I know it didnt help much. But all in all, it was great fun and he enjoyed it and I can't say that I knew I would be playing with him when I starting playing it 15 years ago. Ahhh...the memories.

Welcome shippy, that's an excellent story....

I don't know of any young people playing RBI.  Everyone I know who plays, even casually, played the game when it was initially released.  It's a tough job to get the youngsters involved, as they don't have the nostalgia factor.  But we admire your perseverance, keep up the good work...

with ps2 and gamecube and xbox, kids arent exactly lining up to buy nintendos and rbi for that matter.

they also dont know what they are missing out on.

high,  the bar will never be topped... tengen is well ahead of its time...   there is and never will be a better baseball video game.   so shippy, go easy on the little guy so he can build some confidence... after a while he will probably making you cry.

the only game that has ever even come close to the rbi game...in game quirks has been baseball stars...only because you can kinda create players....but otherwise, every single game has fallen short....they try to make better graphics....but thats not the issue....more complicated gameplay drives me nuts...give me a total of 2 buttons to press...keep my options limited....if you get two players on this game who can play, the games are usually close and always exciting....you try playing against some 6 year old gamecube freak with its 23 buttons and things just get hairy...all i can do on those things is bunt....what im saying is, yes...i agree....this game is the definition and apex of all video gaming....the systems of the future may try to confuse your children with their window dressing, but do not be fooled....the classics will live on forever.....

Baseball Stars was a fun game, I'm a sucker for the "build up your own guy/team/car" type concepts.  I remember back in the day purposely playing the Lovely Ladies in two-player mode and getting a 1st inning slaughter to make some money.  Of course I never went anywhere and the game would lose my teams every couple of weeks...

Fun game though...

me and my friend jesse used to do that...play the lovely ladies that is....however, we ran into problems with having to turn the game off, holding down reset and power  at the same time and then it was a crap shoot to see if your game saved...to remedy that, one summer for about 2 weeks straight....we left the game on, turned off the tv and built up our team...we were nasty....that game was fun, but no rbi

that is the best thing about rbi..  no memory...

all those other games eventually lose their memory...

baseball stars,  baseball simulator...  nothing was worse than turning on the game and reading that "backup has failed".

other games that have come close,  well not that close, but i have played over the years...

little league baseball,  dusty diamond's allstar softball, and simulator...

as for burnzky,  i caught him cheating on rbi the other night playing bad news baseball...

shame on you burnzky, stepping out like that.

blasphemy...however, i have been privy to a few games of bases loaded going on in my home, but thats just because the person playing it never played RBI, but was good at BL....ugh....

bases loaded is like minor league compared to rbi...   it will never compare.

Talking aboot playing the "Ladies" in two player on Stars brings back some great memories for me.  I hate to talk aboot another baseball game, and I promise this will be the last time, but did anyone else figure out how to make your created pitchers 'perfect' and worth something like $999,999,999 and 90 points?  If no one replies, I'll understand, with this being a forum for a far superior baseball game and all.

There's no problem with talking about other NES baseball games.  Somewhat related and most of us RBIers here have dabbled in the other games...

That being said, I never played Baseball Stars enough to competlely power up all my guys.   The game would lose my data before I had a chance...

when we were little the whole world changed when we realized that our nintendo games memory could fail...its as if we were awakened to the harsh realities of this earth... the first time i experienced this was with zelda... a truly tragic day.

ive never gotten the perfect pitcher....i do know that me and my freind jbar used to try to get players who would be worth 5 mil or 9 mil or whatever....and that would be our goal...you have to have the high max points....but i know that the angriest ive ever been at one human being was when i did get my entire team up to max points and some prick kid that my mom used to babysit kicked the game on purpose and reset everything...that was the closest ive ever come to killing another human
