Just read that Jose Uribe, former Giants shortstop, and the leadoff man in RBI for the Giants, died in a car crash in the Dominican Republic.

That's 2 RBIers in 2006 I think.

Indeed.  There are now more RBIers who are dead than are active in MLB.

Damn, that sucks, I just read it on ESPN classic today.

So how many is that, 3 RBI'ers that have died now? (Moore, Puckett, Uribe)?

One committed suicide, one died of natural causes, and one in an auto accident, that's weird.......

RIP, guys.

Nacho

I think lancemeister should change the title of "Joly Crap," or perhaps "hJoly Crap" in tribute to Uribe.

hJoly Crap indeed.  A 17 year hiatus of RBI deaths and then we have two seperated by a matter of months.  Hope the trend stops here.

Also did it occur to anyone else that the three dead RBI'ers are all black?  Darkside, where are you on this one?

Nacho

And they died in three very different ways.  And shockingly, none of them involved ODing (though is there any word on Uribe's sobriety?).

He was pretty horrible in RBI baseball. let's be honest.

Even the game of life pinch hits for Uribe.  :(

He usually fielded his position admirably for the 1/2 inning he was in when SF was home.

He will be missed.

I missed this earlier, one of the greatest first post contributions.  Well done sir...

It looks like someone added the info of his death to his RBIdb Page, but I think it would be nice if we added more content to Uribe's page.  Get to work people!

This database will catch on, even if it takes the death of an RBI'er to happen...
