Has anyone else ever found themselves in a discussion about video games (or more specifically RBI, but RBI usually comes up if I mention it in a discussion about video games) in which you end up making the claim that you are "active in the RBI national scene"?  I don't want to overstate my case since I have never been to a COTUT (I was scheduled to appear in 2003 but backed out along with Strassy), but I still feel that I am a member of a community of committed RBIers who could be said to constitute the "national scene."

I usually get weird looks or giggles, but I feel like I am a part of something.

JoeDirt

Fuck yes, brother.  I sometimes say that I am nationally ranked...which I guess is fair to say since I finished 4th, 2nd and 2nd.

But yeah, fuck yeah...we're all a part of something pretty big over here.

Nacho

I actually thought I'd face criticism from JoeDirt since he is probably the most ingrained in the scene (aside from maybe Gantry, who is like an RBI God now).  I am more loosely affiliated having never actually had the chance to "compete" per se, but this forum has allowed me to talk strategy with the best.

JoeDirt

RBI is bigger than just the tourneys...they are a huge part of it, but certainly not the only part.

ive described RBI and TSB as having large online communities(which they do)

Dee-Nee is taking over...probably on a global scale in the next few years.

Really? When's the last time there's been a new member who's been welcomed and has stayed for more than three weeks?

BDawk

I guess I missed out on my welcome wagon...and I'm still here (unfortunately for most)

The RBI national scene is huge. Back in July when I was home, I met and destroyed a fresh batch of 20 year old wanna be rbi jedi from Saratoga in the south bay area. One dude was my brother's friend, he is just ok. His friends had no clue and no chance when they met the Darkside. They actually claimed that they were great.

Anyways, I told them about dee nee and the tournaments. They were amazed and astonished that such a movement can exist. I think that is where they set the borders. And they will always suck.

I have won in California, Oregon, Arizona, and North Carolina. I would say the national scene is there on a cult status.

I am undefeated outside the state of Northern California. Tell em about me and my ways with the Force.
