Has anyone noticed that this guy is very underrated?  He always seems to have good stamina and nice movement on his fastball.  He might not throw as hard as others, but I'm a big fan.  Of course he has to carry the staff because of the pathetically permed Don Sutton.

Yes Don Sutton may be the stupidest looking individual on the game.  And you are quite right that Mike Witt is a very underrated pitcher.  I would include him on my RBI Nemesis list along with Garrelts.  That is why playing a series is so rewarding.  I may have to hit off of Witt one game, but the next I get to take it to that bluehaired Don Sutton.

Sutton always gets rocked early.  It seems like time and time again you are in the hole early with him out there.   Then you just have to catch them in hits and see what happens.

Disclaimer - I play straight pitch

I have become a big fan of Don Sutton lately, and he typically gets all of my starts now.  I used to go Donnie Moore right off the bat, but what does it for Sutton is hit bat.  The guy can hit!  I typically get one blooper over the SS a game, sometimes two.  Someone emailed me about it awhile ago (forgot who you are, but thanks) and while at first I didn't believe it,  he looks to be the real deal...

As far as Witt goes, he's my closer.  Only late in the game, only in save situations....

in straight pitch... i could see how sutton could be effective.  as for curve style, witt has good movement essential for keeping hitters off balance.  sutton usually gets it done for an inning or two but he loses it in a snap.  when this happens... he usually yields a serious long ball.

I keep heaing about Mike Witt, I think he's mediocre at best. Avergae fastball, below avg movement

i would use witt before the perm.  there is no comparison in curve style.  yes california's pithcing is well below average.  witt is the best of the mediocre staff.

I agree, Witt did show his affectivness Sunday when i successfully defended my tengen league title against Greg.  Witt kept the am all-star hitters off balance all game.

As for the question of who has the worst hairdo between the perms, Gary Carter's is worse.  The reason his is worse is because of the catcher's helmet.  It just makes him look foolish.  Witt is the man compared to the rest of the staff.  But I always love to go to the dead guy.

That is a tough challenge to defend your title against All-Star teams, interesting format you got over there....

Donnie Moore got some saves for me yesterday and I think it might be time to bring him back to the closer role.  I haven't closed with Donnie Moore since college, because he used to blow every save.  But he is the only pitcher on CA with an authentic fastball, so it may be time to bring Donnie home...

thats brave... donnie more thows more taters than sutton and corbet combined.   all he does is blow leads.

Yeah Gantry defending against the Am Stars is tough, but the little man did it anyway, we always pick our teams at random, and we recently put the all-stars back in the mix, sometimes you get screwed, and sometimes like Burnzky did, you can pull a victory out of your ass.

i think we should change the format a bit.
when we set up the tourney,  we should do in three game series in which you use the same team.  thus, only one starter can be used for each game.  then, for next round, go to a five game series, and for the finals, go to a seven game winner takes all.

what do you think greg.

I like Witt, but I don't feel like he always brings it.  when I use Witt, I am most effective when I have his maximum movement.  if he doesn't "have it going", I keep him on a short leash.

RE: old man Sutton.  I don't know how the hell he does it, but my roommate JFreed gets more out of Sutton than you'd believe.  if you don't get to him early, he will cruise through the middle innings.  personally, I don't get those results...but, regrettably, I have been held in check but that geezer on numerous occasions.

sutton is old but its the hair that makes him look ancient.  i mean a grey perm c'mon... he is hard to look at... the braves should take him off tbs and make him do radio permanently... and take pete van wern with him   that guy is a freak too.

The whole TBS crew is so outdated.  They need an overhaul on that station.  America's team has become America's Team for Blue Hairs.
