So how long did King pitch for?

with the win in hand, i yanked him after cal's clout allowing willie to close em out.  his line looked like this:
7 2/3 IP,  5H, 2R, 2ER, 4K, OBB,   and the all important  (W).

My RBI nemesis is Scott Garrelts.  That asshole can pitch against whatever team I am playing with.  Stu will start him and he will last into the 5th of 6th and I may not have a run.  By the way, Cal Schiraldi is by far the worst pitcher in the game.  We make jokes about bringing him in.  In no circumstance will he be a factor in any ballgame.

Dill absolutely kills me with Tom Brookens.  I just can't get him out.   It's bad enough you have to deal with the whole Detroit lineup but he just adds to the misery.  Dill is right aboot Schiraldi.  I don't think he's ever been used unless there is a huge lead.  Mike Scott is also horrible.  In a curve-style game he always seems to get hammered.  His fastball just doesn't have movement.  BTW Dill are you coming to NWA this weekend?

We played this one game and I started Mike Scott and he gave up 8 big ones in 1/3 of an inning.  I swore I would never start him again, but I started him later.  He had a bad day, but he does suck.  NWA on S.   Email Marathon?

Both of us have had horrific outings with Scott.  The guy just blows.  It's obvious that he didn't scuff the ball in the Tengen league like he did in real life.

Frank Viola has my ass no matter who I'm playing against or with, it's reached my psyche.  I usually can't get a hit for 3 innings off him.I had these issues 10 years ago and they're still with me.  This also makes me nearly lose to the computer against Minniesota.
As far as a batter, Pat Sheridan hits a dinger of me EVERY time he come in the game, although I have a fair degree of success when he's subbed in for a regular.

Mike Scott can be effective if you mix in the drop ball, his drop ball percentage I find is much higher than most pitchers.

I have noticed that as well GPines, but our style of RBI only allows you to use one starter in the game so you must use your splitters wisely.  If you use too many, Scott will only be good for aboot 4 innings and thats a lot of outs left for Kerfeld and Smith to make.

Being a big fan of the side-armers, I like to start Kerfeld and hope he makes it into the 4th inning.  Scuffball Scott is much better suited as a middle reliever.  I would rather have Jim Deshaies on the staff than Scott, now that I think aboot it.

Dill, how aboot Bob Knepper?  That was one ugly human being right there.  I bet Tyler would be a fan of the mustache though.

speaking of ugly...  how about popeye jones...   a face only a mother could love.  i think we should play the one starter rule too... our games are being dominated by pitching... what do you think greg?

We could have some one starter games, I don't have a problem with that. I'm also interested in trying that mess with your oponents  lineup first time around.

Screwing with your opponent's lineup feels so rewarding when the players you sub in make an out.  I love that.  Here's a note aboot our last weekend.  Reggie Jackson is in a major slump.  Out of 5 or so games, he only hit ONE homer.  We were already aware of his tyranny against the curve pitch, but he couldn't hit the straight ball out for some reason.  Maybe he was just pulling his head out.

that is a common flaw when you put a baseball player into a slow pitch softball game(straight pitch).  the players get over anxious and usually pop the ball up.

We had players playing way over their head when we put them into this "slow pitch softball game", which is exactly what it is.  The Grinch kept having big games when he wasn't that good before.  But he can hit the lobs I guess.  We really noticed a difference between performances when compared to curve pitch games.

there is no adrenalin rush when you play slow pitch softball...  of course the grinch is great at straight pitch... that guy would make a great softball player.

Straight pitch will deifnitely bring out some RBI heroes, that's for sure.  Harry Spilman is the king for me in straight pitch, though he probably blows in curve style...

And hitting one dinger with Potatoes in 5 games is just plain wrong.  There's no excuse for that and it won't be tolerated on this forum....

And if there was one Astro pitcher I would put in RBI, it would be the great Juan Agosto...

if you are going to add juan agosto... then the cardinals get jaoquin andujar.

Last weekend, Potatoes stepped it up.  He and Meat really lived up to their nicknames, in one game spanking 8 homers between the two.  It just took them a while to adjust to the straight pitch.  I subbed Pat Sheridan for Matty Nokes that weekend also, and it turned out to be very beneficial to the already strong Tiger lineup.  Then came in my man Bill Madlock in the 5 hole.  I have found that to be the best lineup for that team, plus you still have Heath for some late inning pinch hitting.  Even Bergman knocked one out of the park in the late innings of some games.  The Tigers have never been stronger.
