Ensuring there's at least one representative from each team, here's what the 2007 All Star roster looks like (in my opinion):

AL:

C:  V. Martinez (Cle)
1B: J. Morneau (Min)
2B: B. Roberts (Bal)
SS: M. Young (Tex)
3B: A. Rodriguez (NYY)
OF: M. Ordonez (Det)
OF: I. Suzuki (Sea)
OF: A. Rios (Tor)

B: V. Guerrero (LAA)
B: B. Upton (TB)
B: G. Sheffield (Det)
B: M. Teahen (KC)

P: J. Santana (Min)
P: D. Haren (Oak)
RP: B. Jenks (ChW)
RP: J. Papelbon (Bos)

NL:

C: R. Martin (LAD)
1B: A. Pujols (StL)
2B: C. Utley (Phi)
SS: H. Ramirez (Fla)
3B: A. Ramirez (ChC)
OF: M. Holliday (Col)
OF: K. Griffey (Cin)
OF: C. Lee (Hou)

B: J. Reyes (NYM)
B: P. Fielder (Mil)
B: B. Bonds (SF)
B: D. Young (Was)

P: C. Young (SD)

RP: J. Valverde (Ari)
RP: M. Capps (Pit)

Looks perfect to me... only spot that could maybe be questioned is Sheffield... maybe D. Ortiz instead?  But Sheff's put up better numbers so far

What's with all the love for Ortiz? I understand him edging out Morneau in the popular vote, since he's an east coast fella. But I almost threw up when I read all these sportswriters making statements like "I know he doesn't actually play first, but I can't keep Ortiz out of the lineup" When Morneau was having a better year than Ortiz, especially given all star standards (ya know, where BA doesn't matter and it's all about power).

frankie rodriguez for papelbohn in the closer role.  he got it done when the redsox gascan tried to give the game away.

...when did Francisco do anything to bail out Papelbon?

Papelbon gave up one hit and struck out two.

In the 9th inning, Putz pitched 2/3 of an inning while allowed 2 runs on 2 hits and a walk, while Francisco pitched ONE out (but managed to give up 2 balls in the process)

Personally, I'm questioning the severe lack of Putz, who was perfect til last night, and is not 29/30 with an ERA under 1.00 >_>

Putz or K-Rod over Jenks, and possibly over Papelbon...

(of course, we need 1 rep per team... curses... nobody else good on white sox than jenks?)

Agreed with 006, Rodrigueez was any thing but spectacular, that little fucker has no control and wears stupid glasses.  Because that's what relievers do, thet wear stupid glasses and grow ridiculous facial hair.  They're relievers, they're intense characyers those guys!

Anyway, Putz amd the boner

The one rep per team left alot of good players off the rosters.  i.e. Bedard,  Phillips, Sizemore, Ortiz, Putz, etc.
