Pretty neat idea.  I'd like to see it taken a step further and have all players ranked...

nice list.  id like to see this list further contorted to rate them on other factors.  Strawbery ranks high, but on NY you can get away with walking him frequently.  he can be nullified a decent amount of the time that way, and more often than not it wont come back to bite you in the ass.

Same with chili davis...walk that fucker when possible.  Or does that make them more valuable.  Jack clark sees hittable pitches about 2 out of 10 at bats when i play.

I'm surprised to see how low the following players are ranked (to each his own, however):

Mattingly
Raines
Guerrero
Trammell

Also, to imply that GDavis is better than these four players is quite peculiar...

Well they are ranked from 1 to 50.

I was surprised by how high Gary Gaetti.  Chilli Davis got bumped down a few sports due to his 24 in contact.

Hey Polish, want to do a fantasy rbi league?

(is this rude? I just figured that USC is ridiculously busy right now and it wouldn't be bad to restart the American RBI League)

Basically, it's fantasy baseball, except using the players in RBI.  You stage a fantasy draft, then put together the resulting teams in a custom ROM and have them play each other in "Watch Game" mode.

Here is the website fightonusc put together for previous leagues.

If Polish doesn't want in, I'll take his spot.

And if he does want in, I'll kill him and take his spot.

I think you should run the league this year Attez. Fighton needs a season break or whatever. Plus last fantasy season took over one calendar year. Sorry fighton, but that is just too painfully long. He just had a kid and appears to not have the time to invest in a faster paced fantasy season.

I think we should contact him via pm or just start a thread to introduce the measure. It is not technically his league since he is not the founder. GDavis and Shitpaw should decide on a new commissioner. They are the founders. Search is your friend.

If I were to run the league, there should be no doubt in anyone's mind that I would allow rampant cheating.

If there's enough interest, why not have two divisions, one with Alec running it and the other with Polish running it?

Darky

Two division.....sounds good. Who ever runs the next season, needs to run it properly and consistently. It is a FUCKIN serious matter. A vote should be held with or without fighton's approval.
Huge intervals of no play between games and weeks really drained the season. Nothing personal to fighton, but that league just took to long. Clearly unacceptable imo. Fighton did a great job when his heart was in it, but after  week 5 or 6, there was no enthusiasm or creativity behind his recaps (if there were any). Plus he was extremely biased in his recaps.

first of all:  no one should ever say anything bad about fighton, or i will personally dislocate your feet.

he did a great job for three seasons and does everything for free and for the love of the game.  the last season took longer because we increased the number of games and tried to be more inclusive.  don't ever complain about anything he did in running a league in service of the rest of us huge rbi fans.  he's the gantry of fantasy drafts/seasons that would drive anyone else crazy.  he only get's about 5% percent of the credit he deserves in his efforts.

since the oc was very dis-satisfied with our finish this past season and with our ill-conceived leadership structure, i'm very anxious to get back to my team's dominance and winning ways.  i'd love to be involved in another league.  i just got done handicapping another draft list this past monday.

my biggest suggestion is that if we get solid dedication from our longer-term posters here, we should have a keeper league.  in my opinion there are 7 "franchise" players that dominate the league and arguably we could identify a total of 10 either before or after the draft agreeing between owners to "franchise tag" the players (one per team).  this would make a real ownership more valuable, and in my opinion, more interesting. and we could make it go from season to season in the longer term to creast momentum on teams/dynasties.

my other idea is more involved:  to give rank values to players and actually have a budget so you can build a team according to spending "points" and balancing rosters that way.  too make it even more interesting, we could even have owners draw different amounts of salary to create more imbalance and more interest in each teams budget to create challenges in the draft.  ....just a few ideas.

anyway, i'd love to have a team if someone is willing to dedicate the many hours needed to run a league.  there's definitely a lot of us here who would be thankful for that.  and maybe we should show fighton a little more love for doing what he did and raising the bar for our rbi fantasy leagues the past few years.  thanks fighton!

I had a fantastic time in the league last season, especially after I took full control of the team.

What about a mix between all that? A two tiered system, 10 teams in each league, with relegation/promotion? Figure out some way that the more posts you have, the higher the league you start in (maybe this could be focused on posts on the RBI board?).

I envision something like the bottom two teams in the top league are relagated to league two, the top two teams in league 2 are promoted to league one, and the 3/4th place teams in league two play a series each against the 6/7th place teams in league one to determine status for the following season.

I realize that would probably make the idea of a keeper league a tad more complicated, but you could say that the higher ranked team gets their choice (say for instance, you have Gooden and stay in league one, and the top team in league two also has Gooden, you keep Gooden and the top team in league two either gets a better draft pick or can keep a different player)

I know all that sounds needlessly complicated, but I'm sure it could be explained better, and it allows 20 teams to be involved, and I guarantee it would be pretty easy once all the details are sorted out.

TβG

honestly, i don't think that more than 10 people would be dedicated and have enough interest.  i'm not sure we necessarily need two leagues.  i could be wrong, though.

i'd be happy to share my insights and roster management style with someone, i shared a little with bdawk this past year.  but next time around it would be more like an intersnhip for the other person involved with me.  all decisions and ideas would have to be run through me.  with that said, i'd be happy to have someone else on board the oc this year.

I'd be more than happy to be involved as a player and not a participant for a season.

And TBG...

there are also folks complaining about the lack of Bobby Grich, Dwight Evans, and Willie Randolph.

All I am suggesting is that we vote on a new commissioner. Fighton can be an owner and have his own team...that way he does not have to be responsible for so much. He did a great job and I toally appreciate it, but I get the feeling that being a commissioner carries a lot of pressure. People get burnt out. I just think we need some new blood in the commissioner's seat.

Nothing changes. The Fantasy season should remain the same. Draft, season, recaps, playoffs, but more fast paced. Just a change in who is running the show.

TBG, your suggestion makes stuff too complicated.
