Is going on at the moment in the Top 50 Batters thread, just in case anyone missed it.

Darky

Fighton, what are your thoughts? It seems you got burnt out last season. Should we vote on a new commissioner?

No other changes needed.

So, since I'm real eager to get this going again, how about we keep it open for discussion? We need two commisioners if we're going to have the two league system, which is an idea I really like, the other option I suppose would be to include the Arcade RBIers, but that gets ridiculously complicated and there's far too much scoring.

Does anyone else want to commish? I recall Alec raised his hand, and I kinda suggested Polish Rifle do some work since he put together that list, it's probably not fair to have USC do it again, and I'm really curious to see how he drafts seeing as how he's probably the expert in all this. I always figure that whoever runs each league could have a team in the other league, if need be, and it really does seem like we have 20 people regular enough to have the two leagues going.

I raised my hand? Damn, gotta keep better track of that thing.

Yeah, sure, I guess I'll be a commissioner if needed. No idea what to do, but hey, whatever works.

EDIT: In the event that we do two leagues, I support bringing in the arcade roster. They'd probably need a handicap, like -10% power, to make it fair though...

That'd allow for interleague trading, and we could doing interleague world series without worrying about Roger Clemens batting against Roger Clemens... oh, damn, bad example... erm, replace Clemens from arcade with Pedro?

...blast.

But wouldn't that be a cool? If Team A has a very similar team as Team B, you get to truly see who the better manager is? (in the case of the idea of promotion playoffs between the leagues at the end of the year).

I'll volunteer to start in the lower league, if that's how we decide to do it.

TβG

i really don't want to be in a league with arcade rbi'rs.

i prefer pure nes players for whatever that's worth.

I know we all take these leagues pretty seriously.  I honestly get pissed when I lose a close game.  But does anyone really think that a 13 game season determines who is better at fantasy league (drafting, managing, etc.?)  the teams are so similar, even when you have one that stands out as being good or bad, it is no where near the discrepancy of Bos/Hou.  The leagues are just luck fest which are a ton of fun.

It is not a luck fest. GDavis had a plan that worked. He based his lineup from top to bottom according to power....and it worked...mailnly cause of Bell and Armas.

I worked my ass off to get the players I needed to get me to the dance. GDavis put up a pretty fuckin good team cause of some bonehead draft moves by other owners that left him as the man in the right place at the right time.

Having a good knowledge of the players and thier abilities as well as putting together a lineup that wins takes a little more than luck. Maybe just getting better odds.

luck does have a lot to do with it, there's an old saying that goes; "fortune favors the prepared."

so i'm going to have to agree with both darky and ult on this account.

i mostly like the draft though. it's very exciting.  the fielding and baserunning are a lot about luck, but i get a lot of satisfaction from drafting a solid team.  last year i wasn't so happy.  i think it was nacho who was constantly picking my choices RIGHT before me.  very frustrating.

Is there a place to view the all the rosters of the most recent fantasy league teams?

Id like to create a cart with different rosters and this may be a good place to start.  Considering that everyond drafted from a fantasy RBI watch mode standpoint though, this might not be the best place to start.

here's the one from 2005, the last time the oc won the championship.  the first year richard ran the draft we only had 8 teams, so i don't think you want to use 2004.

i'm still looking for the final draft list from 2006.

I don't believe that the chances of winning any individual game ever exceed about 55%, so there is some level of preparation that helps, just very very little.  And in 13 games, the "worst" team could easily end up with the best record.

Sorry if there is a discussion of this in another thread, but is there a league starting up anytime soon?  Did we reach a decision?

Attezz

The draft is going on right now at the other board (the one JoeD set up)

TβG

i thought that league was partly player controlled.  when are we going to have another watch-game league?

did anyone step up to volunteer for commish?  maybe darkside or ultimate have the time to do it??

what?

Yeah, I haven't kept up with the RBI board lately, but JoeD set up another board?

AlecTrevylan006

Why was I not informed?

Also, where >_>

Darky

I will put something together for everybody to vote on as far as the next fantasy league goes. I will need an administrative team to help me if I am to run the league properly. I also would need help for somebody else to run a league game in which the Empire is scheduled so there is no foul play suspicions.

I will be tied up for another couple of weeks so I cannot get anything going till then....but by then I will put in 110 percent to run a league in a professional and fair manner.

I would love to be commish, but I will need a couple of other guys to help strengthen my role and the administrative role as a team.

Any thoughts or objections.....I will brainstorm when I don't have so many balls in the air in the next few hours and add a few more tidbits.
