Round 2

Ultimate @ Beefmaster

Game 1; Ultimate chokes, putting up 0 runs in the 1st 2 innings.  This was just playing with fire against the #1 scoring offense in the league.  As expected, Beef puts it away in the 2nd inning.  Campanela was 2-2 (2HRs, 3 RBIs).
Game 2; Ultimate starts out the same as game 1 and puts up 0 runs in the 1st two innings.  This time Beefmaster is easy on them, and only puts up 3 runs in said innings.  Ultimate finally breaks out of their 4-inning scoreless drought with an 8 run 3rd.  Ultimate would keep the lead after 3 innings.  Ultimate definitely got his groove back.  They would follow their 8-run 3rd inning with an insane 23 runs in the top of the 4th (Mitchel was 3-3, 2HRs (GS), 7 RBIs just in the 3rd inning).  Ultimate would have a 31-5 lead going into the bottom of the 4th.  Beef would not come back from that deficit.  Hornsby, Zernial, & Conigliaro combining 0-7 did not help Beef's chances.  Strawberry would add 3HRs for Ultimate.
Game 3; Ultimate would stay hot, putting up 10 & 9 runs in the first 2 innings.  Beef makes a run to stay alive but falls 1 run short.  For Ultimate, Soriano/McCovey/Banks combine 9-9 (HR each), and Stargel adds 2HRs.  In the loss, Bonds was 2-2 (2HRs, 4 RBIs).
Ultimate will move on to play the winner of BigHath/Fighton in the championship game.
Series MVP goes to Hundley; 8-9 (HR 3 RBIs from the 8-spot).  Strawberry/Stargel each had 3HRs.
LVP goes to Hornsby.  The leadoff batter needs to do better than a .429 BA in a playoff game.
Don't blame... Bonds; 5-7 (4HRs, 7 RBIs) in the loss.

Beefmaster is eliminated and will end up with a 26-19 overall record.

BigHath @ Fighton
Game 1; BigHath doesn't do anything.  They can't even get an extra base hit in the first 3 innings, much less a run.  Fighton ends it in the 3rd.  Pujols was a perfect 3-3 (3HRs, 7 RBIs, walk-off).
Game 2; BigHath was more consistent and Fighton was a little off.  21-10 is the final after 5 innings.  Garciaparra was 0-3 (2 GIDPs) for Fighton.  For BigHath, Buhner was a terrific 5-5 (3HRs, 8 RBIs) in the win.
Game 3; BigHath strikes first and strikes big.  They bat around almost 2.5 times and score 16 runs in the top of the first inning.  Fighton would only get 2 runs and they are eliminated. The top 2 seeds are gone.
Series MVP goes to Greg Vaughn; 8-8 (triple, double, 3 RBIs).  Vaughn is now 16-17 in the playoffs so far.
LVP goes to Nomar Garciaparra; 3-7 (2 GIDPs) in the series loss.
Don't blame... Albert Pujols; 5-7 (5HRs, 9 RBIs).  Jeff Kent was also 6-7 from the leadoff spot.

Fighton will end the season with an overall record of 28-17.
BigHath advances to the championship, and will face Ultimate

Championship (best of 5 Series).
Game 1; BigHath @ Ultimate
Game 2; BigHath @ Ultimate
Game 3; Ultimate @ Big Hath
Game 4; Ultimate @ BigHath (if necessary)
Game 5; BigHath @ Ultimate (if necessary)

BigHath only gets 2 runs (Killebrew HR) in the top of the 3rd, but keeps Ultimate on the ropes with a 13-3 lead.  Ultimate would come back in the bottom half to make a game of it.  Stargel hits a 3-run HR.  Mitchel gets Banks home with a sac fly, and Hundley gets Snider home with a HR.  Big Hath still leads 13-9 after 3 innings.

Big Hath would keep on the pressure.  Bonds would put the first 2 runs on the board with a single.  Burkman follows with a 2-run HR, and Thome makes it back-to-back jack.  Buhner adds a 2-run HR.  Furcal brings in Vaughn with a sac fly.  Burkman goes deep again in his 2nd AB of the inning (this time a 3-run shot), and Thome repeats as well.  Big Hath takes a big 25-9 lead into the bottom of the 4th.
Ultimate would fight back.  McCovey drives in Strawberry with a double, and stargel gets him in with a single.  Banks adds a 2-run HR.  Mondesi keeps Ultimate alive for another inning with a 3-run HR from the 9-spot.  Soriano makes the 1st & 3rd outs of the inning to end the ralley.  Big Hath still leads 25-16 after 4 complete.

Big Hath does not cut into the deficit much, only getting 1 run from a Killebrew HR.  Hath trails 38-44 going into the bottom of the 8th.  Mitchel/Mondesi both hit solo HRs in the bottom of the 8th.  Strawberry drives in Soriano with a single, and McCovey ends the game with an RBI double.

I really think Ultimates team is executing the fundamentals moreso than Big Haths.
