Week 18 (Final Week of Regular Season)

Ultimate vs Attezz
Game 1; Cobb, Coleman, & Ruth combined 6-6 (HR) in the first 2 innings.  Unfortunately, Yount, Lobert, Chance, & Stahl were hitless.  Ultimate put up 5 runs in the 1st inning and 16 runs in the 2nd inning to end the game.  Snider had a perfect 3-3 (3HR, 7 RBI) game.  Strawberry/McCovey had 2HR games each.
Game 2; Ultimate puts up 16 runs in the first 4 innings---more than enough to put away Attezz (despite 2HRs from Ruth).  Soriano was 4-4 (2HRs, triple).
Game 3; Ultimate came at Attezz hard, putting up 14 runs in the 1st inning.  Attezz responded with 4 quick runs in as many ABs, but could not score 1 more run with no outs.  Soriano, Stargel, and Mitchel were each 2-2 (HR) in the 1st inning.
Series MVP goes to McCovey; 9-9 (2HRs, double, 5 RBIs).  Snider was 8-9 (3HRs, 10 RBIs).
LVP goes to Chance and Stahl; cobined 0-7 (0 RBIs) in the series loss.
Don't blame... Babe Ruth; 5-6 (4HRs, 8 RBIs) in the losing effort.

Nomaaa vs McLane
Game 1; Nomaaa led the majority of the game, and fell 1 run short of ending it in both the 5th & 6th innings.  Nomaaa finally ended it in the 7th.  Scheffield was on fire; 7-7, 3HRs (GS), 3 doubles, 10 RBIs.  Ramirez was 7-7 (HR).  Frank Thomas had 4HRs in the losing effort.
Game 2; McLane came back with a huge 17 run 1st inning capped off with a Alomar walkoff GS.  Alomar was 3-3 (2HRs, 6 RBIs).  Ortiz was 2-2 (2HRs).
Game 3; Nomaaa goes up 23-8 after scoring 15 runs in the 4th inning.  McLane puts up 5 runs in the bottom half, but it wasn't enough to stay alive.  Ramirez was 5-5 (HR).
Series MVP goes to Gary Sheffield; 12-13, 4HRs (GS), 3 doubles, 12 RBIs.  Manny Ramirez also batted .923 with 2HRs, and 6 RBIs.
LVP goes to Gorman Thomas.  Despite batting a modest .636 with 2HRs in the series, he grounded into 2 double plays with the bases loaded.
Don't blame Frank Thomas; 9-12 (5HRs, 9 RBIs) in the series loss.

BigHath vs Fighton
Game 1; BigHath brought his A-game scoring 9 & 8 runs in the first 2 innings.  Fighton could only come up with 2 total runs.  Burkman was 3-3 (2HRs).
Game 2; Fighton did all the scoring, winning 2-12 in the first inning.  Fighton had the bases loaded when the game was stopped.  Nomar/Pujols/Howard/Brett combined 7-7 (HR each).
Game 3; both teams took a break on offense, and the game goes 9 innings.  Fighton had a big surge late (including a Kent GS in the bottom of the 8th).  BigHath had no response in the top of the 9th, and Fighton would not have to bat in the bottom half.  Berra was 7-7 (HR, 3 doubles, 7 RBIs).  Greg Vaughn ends the game for BigHath with his 2nd GIDP in last 2 ABs.
Series MVP goes to Berra; 9-10 (HR, 3 doubles, 7 RBIs).  Brett was the only player with a multi HR game in the series win.
LVP goes to Greg Vaughn; 3-9 (2 GIDPs).
Don't blame... Burkman; 8-10 (3HRs, 2B, 6 RBIs).

AlecTrevylan vs GDavis
Game 1; Gdavis just kept pulling farther and farther away until he ended it with a  Sauer walk-off HR in the 5th.  Aaron was 4-5 (4HRs, 6 RBIs).  Fielder was 4-5 (3HRs, 8 RBIs).  In the losing effort, Ordonez was 3-3 (2HRs, 5 RBIs, sac fly).
Game 2; Gdavis scores 17 runs in 3 innings to finish AlecT.  Aaron/Canseco combined 8-8 (2HRs, 4 RBIs each).  Delgado was 4-4 (2 doubles, game winning RBI).
Game 3; was closer.  Both teams scored 3 & 8 runs in the first 2 innings.  Then AlecT took the 3rd inning, 3-2 for a 1 run lead.  AlecT has a huge 4th inning, scoring 15 runs, but GDavis responds with 13 runs in the bottom half to stay in the game.  AlecT would only score 1 run the next 2 innings, and GDavis would take advantage, jumping out to a 7 run lead after 6 innings.  GDavis would finally end it in the 7th by a 32-42 margin.  Fielder carried the team; 8-8 (3HRs, 4 doubles, 9 RBIs).  In the losing effort, Ordonez hit 5HRs, Mays hit 4HRs, and Glaus hit 3HRs.
Series MVP goes to Cecil Fielder; 15-16 (6HRs, 4 doubles, 19 RBIs).  Aaron led the team with 8HRs.
LVP goes to Burks; 5-13 in the series (despite 3HRs).
Don't blame Maglio Ordonez; 11-12 (8HRs, 13 RBIs) in the series loss.

Stock vs Beefmaster
Game 1; was close early on, but then Stock puts up 20 runs in the 5-6th innings and goes up by 7 runs after 6.  With already a big league, Stock puts up 13 more runs in the top of the 8th, to carry a 44-22 lead into the bottom half of the inning.  After scoring only 1 run in the bottom of the 8th, Campanela GIDP to end the inning and the game.  For Stock, Piazza was 7-8 (3HRs, 9 RBIs).  Ott/Griffey/Helton/Mo Vaughn also had a multi HR game.
Game 2; Stock came out the gates with 8 runs in the 1st inning.  However, Beefmaster would come back strong with 12-8-7 runs the next 3 innings and pull out to a 9 run lead after 3 complete.  Stock could only add 2 more runs in the top of the fourth.  Frank Robinson (5-5, 2HRs) ends it in the bottom half with a 3-run HR with no outs.  Stuart was 4-4 (2HRs).  Piazza/Henderson combined 7-7 (3HRs) in the loss.
Game 3; Stock just started out too slow, and Beef put up 7 runs in the 1st and 9 runs in the 2nd to end the game with a Campanela walk-off HR.  Allen had a grand slam, and Bonds/Stuart/Zernial combined 8-8 (HR each).  For Stock, Griffey was 2-2 (HR, 3B) in the losing effort.  Beef ends the series scoring 7 runs or more in each of his last 5 innings.
Series MVP goest to Stuart;  11-13 (6HRs, 2 doubles, 15 RBIs).
LVP goes to Travis Fryman; last with a .500 BA in the series as well as the only player on either team w/o a HR.
Don't blame... Mike Piazza; 12-14 (5HRs, 11 RBIs).  Griffey and Mo Vaughn also had 5HRs each in the series loss.

Ryno vs Rack
Game 1; Ryno nearly bats around twice in the 1st inning; scoring 12 runs.  However, would only score 1 more run in the next 2 innings, and Rack would only trail by 1 run after 3.  Rack would take a 3 run lead after 6 innings.  After Rack ending back-to-back innings with GIDPs, Ryno would regain a 4 run lead after 8 innings.  Ryno would go down in order with no insurance runs in the 9th.  It wouldn't matter as Rack gets blanked as well in the 9th.
Game 2; Rack scores 9 runs in the bottom of the 3rd.  However, it was too little too late as he was down 20-1 going into that inning.  Schmidt was 4-4 (GS, 5 RBIs).  Eric Davis/Ripken combined 7-7 (HR each).
Game 3; Rack gets blanked the first 2 innings and finds his team in a quick 10-0 hole going into the bottom of the 3rd.  Rack gets 8 runs in the 3rd (led by a Bagwell GS) and survives the early scare.  Bagwell hits another GS in the 5th inning, and Rack takes a 2 run lead.  It would remain close and be tied at 23 after 7 innings.  The game would be tied at 32 going into the bottom of the 9th.  Rack would not even record an out before ending it with a Belle walk-off double.  Bagwell was 6-7 (3HRs, 12 RBIs).  Mike Schmidt would have 3HRs in the losing effort.
Series MVP goes to Eric Davis; 16-20 (2HRs, 8 doubles, 11 RBIs from the leadoff spot).  Despite batting only .684, Palmiero had 6HRs and 20 RBIs.
LVP goes to Ivan Rodriguez; lowest BA in the series at .500.
Don't blame ... Kiner; 13-16 (5HRs, 3doubles, 17 RBIs) in the series loss.

Shooty vs Nacho
Game 1; Shooty extended the lead every inning, and then capped the 7th with a 10 run inning.  Nacho falls 1 runs short in the bottom half to stay alive.  Matt Williams was 6-7 (3HRs) from the leadoff spot.  Edmonds also had 3HRs.
Game 2; was all Nacho.  They get 5 in the first inning, led by an Andruw Jones GS.  They then put 12 runs up in the 2nd inning capped by a walk-off HR from Musial.  DiMaggio was 3-3 (2HRs).  Guerrero was 3-3 (HR).  AJones was 3-3 (2HRs, 7 RBIs).  Musial was 3-3 (HR, triple).  ARod/Wagner combined 5-5.
Game 3; ended just like game 2.  Only this time Dimaggio had the winning HR (3-3, HR, 5 RBIs) in the 2nd inning.  Arod was 2-2 (HR).  Maris was 2-2 (2HRs).  Biggio was held hitless in the last 2 games despite 2 wins.
Series MVP goes to Joe DiMaggio; 9-11 (4HRs, 12 RBIs).
LVP goes to Taveras; 2-8 (0HRs).
Don't blame... Sosa; 9-10 (3HRs, 5 RBIs).

Weathermatt vs Gantry
Game 1; was as close as could be.  Every top of the inning WM took the lead while Gantry would gain it back every bottom half.  This would repeat every inning until the 9th, where Weathermatt would not be able to come back from a 33-40 deficit in the top half.  Jackson and Matthews each had GSs for Gantry, and Ted Williams added a 3HRs game.  For Weathermatt, McGwire had a 5HR - 8 RBI game, and Sanders was 7-8 (3HRs, 3 doubles) in the losing effort.
Game 2; Weathermatt's offense was non-existent, with only a solo HR from McGwire.  Gantry ends it in the 3rd.
Game 3; Gantry; Keeps the pedal on the medal to end the season with a 2 inning slaughter.  Reggie hits a GS for the 2nd time in the series.  Mize was 3-3 (2HRs).  Howard Johnson was 2-3 (triple, game winning 3-run HR).
Series MVP goes to Giambi; 11-13 (2HRs, 3 doubles, 9 RBIs).  Mize (4HRs) led the series in RBIs with 12.  Jackson and Ted Williams each had 4 HRs.
LVP goes to Javy Lopez; 4-10, 2HRs, 3 RBIs. Altthough Gonzalez had the same number of hits, all 4 were home runs.
Don't blame... Mark McGwire; 9-12 (7HRs, 12 RBIs) in the series loss.

there are also folks complaining about the lack of Bobby Grich, Dwight Evans, and Willie Randolph.

BeefMaster

Nice close to the season for my crew - they were in second or third for quite a bit of the season.

AROD Division - Greatest in the history of sports?  Or most mediocre?

Mr. Blubbo

After being in first for 70% of the season before the wheels fell of my team, I'm happy to have squeezed into a playoff spot.  Seemed like my team just got tired down the stretch and are thankful for their 1 week rest before game 1.
Here's your ball!

Mr. Blubbo

I was wondering why the season stats on the left (team) doesn't match the individual player stats on the right.  Which one is correct?  Plus the macros arent working with my mac Stock.  Could you possibly PM me my players season stats in order of current batting order?

Thanks.

Not sure what you are looking at.
I spot checked about half your line-up and the stats match.
Are looking at the correct set of stats on the left?
There are 3 sections.
1.  Far Left = Season stats by team.
2.  Middle = Stats by team for week 18 only.
3.  Far Right = Sortable season stats for all teams.

I have attached a snapshot of your season stats (per your current lineup) in a Word file.
Hopefully your Mac can handle the complexities of Microsoft Word.

Round 1

Rack @ Ultimate
Game 1; was a pretty close, back-and-forth game until Ultimate had a big 10-run 7th inning.  Ultimate came 1 run shy of ending it.  Rack could only muster a few runs in the top of the 8th, and Ultimate ended it in the bottom half with a Strawberry walk-off 3-run HR (3rd of the game).  McCovey, Banks, and Mitchel had 2HR games.  For Rack, Belle was 6-6 (2HRs) in the losing effort.
Game 2; was close at first; tied at 21 after 3 and 23 after 4 innings.  However, Rack went cold and got blanked in the 5th & 6th innings.  Ultimate scored 10 in said innings, and will advance to the 2nd round after the 2-game sweep.  Strawberry was 7-7 (2HRs, 3 doubles, 5 RBIs).  Soriano had 3HRs and 6 RBIs.  For Rack, Bagwell was 5-5 (2HRs) and Foxx added a GS in the losing effort.
Series MVP goes to Strawberry; 13-15 (5HRs, 5 doubles, 15 RBIs).
LVP goes to Jeter; 5-11 (GIDP) in series loss.  Kiner also didn't help matters, batting .455 from the 3-spot.
Don't blame... Bagwell; 9-10 (5HRs, 11 RBIs) in the losing effort.  Belle had a great series too; 10-11 (4HRs, 6 RBIs).

Ultimate will advance to the 2nd round to play Beefmaster in a best of 3 series.
Rack will go out with a 23-21 overall record.

I will update the master file at the end of the 1st round.

Big Hath @ Gantry
Game 1; BigHath bats around in the 1st inning putting up a solid 5 runs.  Gantry goes crazy in the bottom half.  Ted Williams, Jackson, Dunn, Matthews, Giambi & HoJo combined 13-13 (HR each) in the 1st inning.  Ted Williams has a walk-off GS in this 5-18, 1-inning beat down.  For Big Hath, Bobby Bonds and Jay Buhner hit HRs in their only AB.
Game 2; Both teams bat around and put up 5 runs in the 1st inning.  Big Hath has a huge 3rd inning; putting up 15 runs, led by a Thome GS.  Hath would have a 22-8 lead going into the bottom of the 3rd.  Gantry would fall 1 run short of forcing a 4th inning.  For BigHath, Burkman, Killebrew, & Buhner were 4-4 (HR each).  Thome was 3-4 (3HRs (GS)).
Game 3; Gantry starts slow, putting up only 1 run thru 2 innings.  After an 11-run 3rd inning, BigHath would have a 15-1 lead going into the bottom of the 3rd inning.  For the 2nd game in a row, Gantry would fall 1 run short of forcing a 4th inning.  Greg Vaughn was 3-3 (2HRs, double, 6 RBIs).  Thome was 3-3 (HR, double, 3 RBIs).
Series MVP goes to Jim Thome; 7-8, 4HRs (GS), double, 10 RBIs.  Killebrew also had an outstanding series; 8-8 (HR, 5 RBIs).
LVP goes to Deshields; 2-6 (0 RBIs).
Don't blame... Adam Dunn; 7-7 (2HRs, 3 doubles, 9 RBIs) in series loss.

Big Hath will advance to the 2nd round to play #1 seed, Fighton.
Gantry is eliminated and ends the year with an overall 24-21 record.
