XV NFC Divisional Playoffs

THERE WILL BE NO 3-PEAT!

Marshall Faulk caught a 6 yard touchdown pass with 59 seconds left in the game to give the 01 Rams a triumphant victory over the two time defending champion 85 Bears.

The juggernaut and five time TSB champion 85 Bears took the lead with 2:12 remaining in the game as Jim McMahon found a streaking Willie Gault down the seam for a 69 yard touchdown pass. However, Kurt Warner and the Greatest Show On Turf quickly marched down the field on Buddy Ryan's celebrated 46 defense. Marshall Faulk caught a key 53 yard pass and was brought down at the 6 yard line with just over a minute to go. Mike Singletary was left in single coverage with Marshall Faulk which proved to be a huge mismatch.

The 01 Rams will now face their old rival the 89 49ers in the NFC Championship game. The two organizations once had a fierce rivalry when the Rams played in Los Angeles. The game should be an interesting offensive match up of the high octane offense of the 01 Rams and the precision oriented offense of the 89 49ers.

XV AFC Championship

The 90 Bills will be making their second trip to a Tecmo Super Bowl.

Filling in for an injured Thurman Thomas, Kenneth Davis scored the go ahead touchdown with 45 seconds remaining from 25 yards out. K.Davis finished the day with 127 yards on 11 attempts.

Charlie Joyner put the 81 Chargers up 28-24 on a 35 yard td pass from Dan Fouts with 2:42 remaining in the game.
Accustomed to the hurry up offense, a cool headed Jim Kelly drove the 90 Bills 85 yards with a mix of run and passing plays from the K-Gun offense and left virtually no time for Air Coryell to mount a last second drive.. The 81 Chargers Achilles heel, could not be avoided as they could not stop the 90 Bills on the crucial drive.

Marv Levy handed the game ball to GDavis for his relentless faith and for rallying the city of Buffalo around the slogan "Billieve".

XV NFC Championship

The 89 49ers converted two Kurt Warner interceptions into 14 points and jumped out to a 21-7 halftime lead and never looked back as they move on to face the 90 Bills in TSB XV.

The two teams faced in TSB V (original TSB ROM). The 90 Bills beat the 90 49ers 31-28. This will mark the third appearance of the 49ers in a TSB, and the 90 Bills their second appearance.

The momentum appeared to stay with the 49ers once they went up 14-0 after a crucial interception in the end zone by Ronnie Lott which killed a 01 Rams drive on their opening possession.

George Seifert used 5-6 defensive backs on almost every down as he slowed down the Greatest Show On Turf in St. Louis.

The highly celebrated and original West Coast Offense, operated by Mike Holmgren, was as precise as ever as Montana surgical dissected the Rams defense. The story of the day was Jerry Rice and his huge day. The greatest receiver ever to step on the field once again shined in the games biggest stage. Rice caught 7 passes for 228 yards and added a pair of touchdowns.
Montana was brilliant as he threw for 338 yards with an 88 completion percentage.

In other news, John Taylor is still injured and his status is uncertain for TSB XV.

Tecmo Super Bowl XV

With reserve running back Kenneth Davis going down in the second quarter, and with Thurman Thomas already out, Marv Levy turned to Don Beebe as his running back. It turned out to be a wise decision as Don Beebe scored the game winning touchdown of TSB XV with 1:16 remaining.

On the ensuing drive, the 89 49ers mounted a desperate drive. However, Joe Montana was sacked by Bruce Smith at midfield with 30 seconds remaining and ending the game as the 89 49ers turned the ball over on downs.

With the score even at 21 with just over two minutes to play in the 4th quarter, Jim Kelly engineered a 73 yard touchdown drive using the no-huddle offense. Don Beebe made the big plays to set up his 4 yard touchdown run to give the Bills a 28-21 lead. It proved to be enough as the 90 Bills captured their second TSB Trophy.

Don Beebe was named TSB MVP. The crafty and fast veteran combined for 184 total yards out of the backfield. He was too much for the slower Niner linebackers to cover out of the backfield.

With key injuries plaguing the 90 Bills, Marv Levy offered this to the media "we Billieved".

On a gusty day at Three Rivers Stadium, the team of the 70's pulled away from the 98 Broncos in the 4th qtr as the 78 Steelers scored 21 unanswered points.

The Steel Curtain forced 2 fumbles in the 4th quarter which led to 14 points. The Broncos committed 4 turnovers overall to the swarming Steel Curtain led by Jack Lambert.

Franco Harris rushed for 116 yards to lead the Steeler offense.

Why are the '01 Rams in this game?

I don't know Mike. That's how the ROM is. I didn't make the ROM, but the dude has a lot of SB losers in the game. I see his point, he has the 83 Redskins in there as well. Meaning that those teams were arguably better than the teams that won the SB (according to all the stats up until the SB). Th 83 Skins and the 01 Rams were top three as far as highest scoring teams ever until the Pats destroyed that.

You bring up a good reminder. I really need to create my own 'Dynasty' ROM. I don't like the arrangement of teams this dude put in there.

I'll run more games later when I get back from a date/encounter.

The Greatest Show on Turf was led by Marshall Faulk and their underrated defense as they shut down the second highest scoring offense of all-time, the 98 Vikings.

The 35-7 dominating effort surprised many who thought the game would be a shootout. However, Randall Cuningham never found his rhythm while Mike Martz kept the Vikings defense off-balance all day by mixing the pass and run.

A dejected Denny Green told the media "they are who we thought they were".

Larry Csonka and Mercury Morris each fumbled twice and gave Air Coryell a short field to work with all day as the 81 Chargers converted all 4 turnovers into touchdowns and ending the 72 Dolphins perfect season.

Chuck Muncie found holes all day to run through as he rushed for 129 yards on 9 carries.

Both QB's had accuracy problems as they battled a tropical storm at the Orange Bowl. Bob Griese only completed 18 percent of his passes while Dan Fouts only completed 33 percent of his passes.

The celebrated Hogs and the 3rd highest scoring offense in NFL history simply dominated the Dooms Day defense. America's Team was thoroughly beaten in all phases of the game in this great NFL rivalry.

Arguable the greatest white running back ever, John Riggins, rushed for 120 yards to lead the way. The 83 Redskins showed great balance as they totaled 181 yards rushing and 183 yards passing.

Roger Staubach was pressured all day and his passing stats for the day paint a clear picture.

Darrell Green blanketed Drew Pearson as Pearson was held without a reception while Joe Theismann produced an efficient day.

The outcome of the game was a shock to many observers who were anticipating a much better showing by the 77 Cowboys. Legendary coach Tom Landry was unavailable for comments after the game.

The 78 Steelers won the turnover battle 3-1 and managed to slow down Sam Wyche's hurry up offense as they won against their old AFC Central foes 28-21 on a crisp day at Three Rivers Stadium.

Vietnam veteran Rocky Bleir rushed for a Touch Down to put the team of the 70's up 28-14 with 3:40 left to play. On the ensuing possession, the 88 Bengals marched right down the field and scored with just over a minute to go to make it 21-28, but they failed to recover the onside kick and Terry Bradshaw took a knee to end the game.

It should be noted that the 88 Bengals played without their star running backs Ickey Woods and James Brooks. Both were inactive due to injuries for the game. TV ratings took a hit without any chance of Ickey Wooks doing his famous Touch Down dance of the 'Ickey Shuffle'.

Kurt Warner hit Isaac Bruce down the sideline for a 43 yard touchdown pass with seconds remaining in the game as the Greatest Show on Turf beat the team of the 80's 24-17 in dramatic fashion.

Although the 89 49ers were outgained 328 to 127 on offense, their defense managed to keep them in the game by forcing 3 fumbles, two of which were bone crushing hits by HOF Ronnie Lott. Ronnie Lott forced Marshall Faulk to leave the game with a concussion in the first quarter.

Without Faulk,  the 01 Rams still had more than enough weapons to compensate. Kurt Warner completed 68 percent of his passes for 307 yards and threw 3 touchdown passes as he completed passes to 6 different receivers in the game.

49er owner Edward DeBartolo Jr. fired George Seifert immediately after the game and brushed off all corruption related questions by the media regarding former Louisiana governor Edwin Edwards.

It was overheard among some spectators that Bill Walsh mentioned something about how he should have never retired after the 88 season and how much it hurt to see his team with the winningest decade in football history go down to the hated Rams.

Captain Comeback Jim Harbaugh struck once again at Jack Murphy Stadium.

Down 28-21 with just over two minutes remaining, Captain Comeback led the 95 Colts to a field goal and a game clinching touchdown pass in heroic fashion to stun the 81 Chargers and Air Coryell.

After a Cary Blanchard field goal with just over a minute remaining and on the ensuing possession, Dan Fouts inexplicably dropped back to pass on first down in Chargers territory and was intercepted by Ray Buchanan. From there, Jim Harbaugh had just over a minute to work with to drive his team 26 yards for the win.

Harbaugh hit reserve running back Lamont Warren on a screen pass that resulted in a 19 yard touchdown pass to shock the 81 Chargers 31-28.

Marshall Faulk rushed 9 times for 184 yards while Tony Siragusa registered 3 sacks on the day to lead the 95 Colts.

The 95 Colts and Captain Comeback will now take their act to Pittsburgh for the AFC championship game.

Brett Favre hit Andre Rison for a 30 yard gain to the Redskins 17 yardline in overtime to set up a game winning field goal by Chris Jacke as Mike Holmgren's Packers beat the 83 Redskins 24-21 at RFK Stadium.

Down 21-14 with just under two minutes left to play, Brett Favre engineered a beautiful and desperate 87 yard drive which resulted in a touchdown pass to Mark Chumura with no time remaining to send the game into overtime.

Joe Gibbs inexplicably called for an onside kick after losing the toss for overtime, and the Packers recovered the ball on the Redskins 47 yard line. It took one play to get into field goal position as Andre Rison found an open spot on the perimeter of the blitzing defense Washington had called.

Brett Favre finished with 266 yards and 2 touchdown passes with no interceptions which brought a smile to Mike Holmgren's face. Mike Holmgren has exerted a lot of effort and did his share of screaming his head off after every Favre interception since he's been tutoring Favre who was a raw product when he came over from Atlanta.

AFC Championship XVI

With 1:19 remaining in the game, Vietnam veteran Rocky Bleier rushed 4 yards for the winning touchdown as the team of the 70's will make their 4th appearance in the Tecmo Super Bowl.

Captain Comeback Jim Harbaugh led his 95 Colts back from a 14-3 deficit in the second half and put his team up 17-14 with 2:30 remaining to play.

Terry Bradshaw then masterfully drove the 78 Steelers downfield on the strength of a 46 yard acrobatic catch by Lynn Swann. With first and goal from the Colts 4 yard line, Rocky Bleirer ran through a huge hole to give the Steelers a 21-17 lead.

Captain Comeback's magic fell short as time expired on his 95 Colts and their improbable run in the playoffs ended at midfield as he was sacked by Mean Joe Greene.

The 78 Steelers will be looking for their first TSB victory ever. They have previously lost to the 01 Rams, 83 Redskins, and the 85 Bears.

Legendary coach Chuck Noll seemed confident about his team's possibilities in TSB XVI.

Brett Favre and the 96 Packers dismantled the 01 Rams 35-24 and will make their first ever appearance in a Tecmo Super Bowl.

Brett Favre hit Edgar Bennett on a trademark Holmgreen screen pass to put the 96 Packers up 35-17 with just over two minutes remaining left to play at a frigid Lambeau Field. The Greatest Show on Turf scored a late and meaningless touchdown on the game's closing seconds to make the score seem closer than it really was.

Reggie White and Gilbert Brown terrorized Kurt Warner all day as they sacked him a combined 8 times with 6 hurries. Brett Favre had a spectacular day as he completed 83 percent of his passes for 275 yards including two long strikes to Andre Rison.

Mike Holmgren's West Coast offense was the more efficient one today and clearly was running on all cylinders while Martz's celebrated Greatest Show on Turf had it's problems getting into gear on the frozen tundra. Much credit should be attributed to Fritz Shurmur's scheme and the hard hitting of LeRoy Butler who knocked Marshall Faulk out of the game in the first quarter as well as causing 2 fumbles on the day.

The 96 Packers will now face the 78 Steelers in TSB XVI. Both teams will be seeking their first ever TSB trophy.

Tecmo Super Bowl XVI

Reserve halfback Sidney Thornton scored a 5 yard touchdown run in the final seconds of the third quarter to put the 78 Steelers ahead for good 28-17 as the team of the 70's held on for a 28-24 victory and capturing their first ever TSB championship.

The difference in the game was the Steel Curtain and Franco Harris. The Steelers forced 3 fumbles in their own territory to kill productive drives by the 96 Packers. Those three fumbles led to 14 points. Franco Harris (121 yards rushing/2 td's) helped control the clock by moving chains in the 4th quarter and keeping the ball away from Mike Holmgren's west coast offense led by legendary qb Brett Favre.

Brett Favre had a productive day against the Steel Curtain but the fumbles by Dorsey Levens, Brett Favre, and Mark Chmura just proved to be too devastating. Brett Favre hit Andre Rison for a touchdown pass with under a minute remaining to reduce the deficit 24-28, but the Packers failed to recover the ensuing onside kick. From there Terry Bradshaw took a knee and ran out the clock.

Jack Ham was named TSB MVP with two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
