I renamed the other thread and started a new one, hope noone minds. I wanted a thread devoted to discussion of the ROM, and the other one had stuff about collaborating on ratings and all that.

Includes all 30 teams with the best color combinations I could find. With limited palette, limited tiles, and and extra 20 teams, it's difficult, so there are SOME compromises, but I feel it works, and barring some major upheaval, I'm locked in on the colors I've chosen.

Each team includes the lineups from the most up-to-date sources I could find.  The pitchers consist of 2 SPs, 1 relief, and 1 closer, with staminas rated for original feel, save for a few tweaks to make playing  in the style of "one SP per game"  play a little better, while not compromising strategy.

Error probability is 5 flat across the board

I have my own rating style and feel pretty good about the lineups being correct as of recent. I know some people are going to have a differing of opinion, and I'm open to suggestion, although I'm gonna make the final call on whether or not I'll make a change to the ROM.

Included are two ROMs, a regular version, and a juiced version.  While this is a public release, this is still a beta, and depending on feedback from you/me playtesting, the ratings might change.

I spent a shitload of time on this, I hope ya'll get some enjoyment out of it.

All downloads, rosters, release notes, etc can now be found at http://rbibaseball.us

Thanks for the feedback...I made the changes as we discussed in the PM.  These changes will be reflected in the next release.

The dee nee tard mixed in with gantry looks a little bit like TBT

Turd

?? Where does it say this? When you try and download it?  Or, do you need help working the emulator? Not sure what you're asking, but let me know and I'd be glad to help...

JoeDirt

yeah, when I open it after downloading it.  I was able to down load juiced 2008 back in the day, I see...

You need to use an emulator like nestopia or virtuanes or something...open the emulator, and then open the ROM with the emulator...unless you have nes files associated with your emulator, it won't automatically know what to do with it, which is why you're getting that message...

JoeDirt

Oh, duh.  Right.  Thanks...it's bee a long time since I've played any NES ROMs...

No problem, brother...I recommend Nestopia (both for online play and for offline play). Good luck, let me know what you think...

Tecmo

I have been offline for a while and just checkked back to this site.  I am downloading the files as I type.  What is the difference between the 2 roms?

Are you looking for feedback from both roms?

Thanks a lot

Luke

The first ROM is straight up RBI as you're used to it, save for the updated rosters and team colors.  The second is a "juiced" ROM where the CPU's outfielder/infielder speed is amped up, as is their throwing velocity.  It makes the CPU much more difficult to beat, as it stops them from making less stupid fielding decisions.  It's more akin to playing vs. a human. While not perfect, it's close...

The other thing I should mention as a side effect of juicing the outfielder/infielder speed, if the CPU tries to chase you down on the basepath, they will jet off the base like someone lit a firecracker up their ass and run you down.  It looks a little weird, but it has the effect of forcing you to make very smart base-running decisions (e.g., not attempting that extra base).

I have a website setup for you to setup your own custom juice where you can even juice the batter power, pitching curve ability, etc, but I don't like using that, as it kind of removes the dynamics of an opponent's strengths and weaknesses.  So, in the ROM I posted in the first thread, it's just speed related, nothing else is juiced.

Any other questions, let me know...

once a final edition is released, i will be asking the guy at NESreproductions.com if these ROMs can successfully be burned to a cartridge.  I will keep you all posted.

Ok...just so you know, this thing is gonna be a living ROM, so you'll have to decide what is "final" to you.  I keep making tweaks, and I'll post another one here soon.  Aside from the small tweaks, I'm going to consider three different milestone releases...

Just before the season starts
All-star break
Post-season final

Incremental releases will come between them, but I am constantly going to edit this thing to make it as accurate as possible.  So, Let me know when you want a final cut and I'll give you what I have up until that point.

Also, since I'm a nice guy and you are spending your money on getting it put on a cart, I'd be happy to make a custom tweak (color, roster alignment, etc) for you before you send it on out (even if I don't agree it should be in my final ROM).  Of course, these requests will be handled within reason, as I don't have time to do a million custom requests, although I doubt that'll be a problem.

Hit me up with questions...I'm 99% sure these will work on a cart, but I'd still be curious to hear from someone who's done it.

TempoGL

awesome...sounds good, TT.  i would consider a "final" release for 2010 to be after you get the ratings set where you feel they should be, but before any roster changes are made over the course of the 2010 season.

Fair enough, I'll let ya know when I feel they are good...haven't gotten any feedback from more than a select few, so if that stays the same, thus will most of the ratings on the ROM...I'll keep ya'll posted...

TempoGL

just an observation from playing...the white sox should probably have Thornton and Jenks in the bullpen...no question that thorton is the top dog aside from Jenks on the team.

Right on, good catch...I'll set that up...I used the long relief guy as the default 3rd pitcher, so that's why Torres is in there...

Turd

I have a new update coming very soon.  The last thing I have to do is go through and update the "per pitcher batting" attributes.

Once I get that finished, I'll generate a roster sheet and post it here, then any of you fine people can glance at it easily and see if there are any trades I missed or players on the wrong team, etc.  This should be helpful for people who don't want to load up the ROM but can still glance through the rosters and see what needs changing, considering I've been looking at an excel spreadsheet and player stats for so long, it's easy for me to get buried and have all the stuff blur together.

Turd

Updated ROMS with change log and roster sheet attached to the first post...even if you aren't gonna play it, feel free to download the roster sheet and let me know if you see an error or whatever.

TempoGL

i would like to see Brian Anderson included on the royals bench, but that's just me...
