I'm with kahouty on the Giants... I don't know what there is to work with as far as cream, but you could also throw in their original RBI brown, maybe - it isn't terribly authentic, but it would at least match the lettering, and it would be recognizable as the Giants.  That would also allow you to go with a full black for the Yankees' caps, too - I assume it's a gray you're using, but it shows up kinda green on my monitor from most angles.

The Twins should probably have a lighter gray for their primary color, unless you're worried about it being too close to the Braves' (just the shade of blue would differ).

I think the Red Sox' hats should be navy (probably the same as you're using for the Twins) instead of gray.

Other than those fairly minor quibbles (along with the fact that the Rays somehow seem off, but I can't think of anything specific to do about it), you've done an excellent job with the uniforms - for most teams, I could guess the team just by the uniform, which is hard to do with so many teams sharing red and blue as primary colors.

Giants - I'll look into using a creme for their primary.  I just didn't want it to be too close to white, and the gray is one of their colors.

Yankees (and Brewers, actually). On all my monitors, the color you referred to as gray is actually a Navy blue...it does have a green tinge to it, but it looks pretty good in-game.  I felt that the other Navy blue looked too much like the old brewers blue than the new.

Twins - That same blue mentioned above was used for the twins...it looked close in the pics I looked at...the twins are a team I changed several times. I'll mess with it again...

That color you're seeing as Gray comes out as Blue on my monitor...curious to what it looks like in-game for you...I used that for a few teams...most people i've talked to see blue, with the only caveat being some say it looks greenish a bit.

I don't know what to do about the Rays...I'll mess with it again tonight and see if I can get people's opinions.

Turd

I updated the Giants, Twins, and Yankees unis.  I got nothin' for the Rays.  How do those updates look?

Turd

Also remember these are web variations of those colors...to get the true feel of what they look like, it's best to look at it in-game.

Yeah Giants look 155% better imo. Twins look legit. And since theres no true yankee blue the gray/black seems authentic enough(actually how does the met blue look with the gray uniforms?).

I played SD and SF against each other to see if they were too close, and it totally works. Easy to see the difference and they both look great.

Very very close now.

For the Rays, go with their home whites...white base and use that same purple for the hats. I think that would capture the flavor of their duds.

I'm gonna go over the lineups and see if theres anything that might need a tweak. I saw one already so I'll make another post with some alternate lineup suggestions(and why).

Turd

Do the rays look purple to you? It looks blue on my monitor. I don't know if a white and blue will fit, as there are other teams with that combo already.

I had the yanks setup like I have the twins now. It worked, but then the twins were out of good schemes.

My bad not purple. Its a blue, but def with purple tones.

Though correct me if I'm wrong, its a blue that isn't used by any other team correct?

If so have a look. If the shade of blue isn't shared then the white/blue might work.

The only other teams with a white base blue hat seem to be the Dodgers, and Tigers.

If you think otherwise thats cool. Thats why we slap it up here to kick around the ideas.
The Rays are def not terrible as is.

Basically when suggesting these I'm going with the most logical(to me) traditional batting order, being this. (Also of note I think the lineup balance may not be exactly as they would write a lineup today, but more on the basis of last years stats. Obv Luke Scott won't hit cleanup too often this year with Matt Wieters coming into his own, though as these stats dictate Scott is the best power hitter on this team.)

And always, these are just suggestions. I don't claim to be a guru by any means. For game balance purposes I think its important to have the most competitive lineup, and thats what I'm shooting for here. And also when possible, it makes sense to go Righty/Lefty if the options are present.

1)Fast/High Avg guy
2)High avg/good hitter/speed also if possible
3)Best hitter on the team
4)Most raw power
5)RBI guy with Power(usually the over the hill guy that used to hit in the 3 hole)
6)Not the worst hitter
7)2nd worst hitter
8)Worst hitter

Awesome, I'll look all this over when I get a chance (I'm out today, but probably Sunday night).  We'll see what I can figure out with the rays uni.

As for the lineup suggestions, I appreciate the feedback. At this point, there's a lot of conjecture.  I used www.mlbdepthcharts.com heavily, as they were the only one who continually updated their lineups.  It's just another guy's projection.  The benefit of taking suggestions from people is that I can work on the meat of the ROM while others can simply scan lineups for tweaks to help balance out the game, and make it more accurate.  Most of what you posted does make sense, although for the Yankees, I've relied on a few fans to give me their projection, which is something I usually trust because most fans know their team and follow their team's news closely.

Much much thanks for taking the time to help me make it accurate, your feedback has been most helpful.  I'll work on implementing some of your suggestions on Sunday.

P.S. Let's play a game sometime...

P.P.S. I should just give you access to my editor so you can change the lineups yourself :) I updated the rays, but I think they might clash vs the tigers in-game. Can't try it myself right now.

I just tried out a game with the Twins, and while I initially thought everyone seemed really, really slow, I think that was because I've been watching Fantasy games in 2x speed - I checked the ratings, and they looked good, other than I think Punto and Casilla should be faster (they're both frequently used as pinch runners, and Casilla only had as few steals as he did because he could never get on base), Harris should have more power than Morales, and Hardy should probably have more power than Span.  Those are subjective, though, and pretty small changes, so no complaints if you don't.

One roster change - Casilla should be replaced on the bench by Jim Thome.  Depending on how accurate you want to be for the beginning of the season, you could leave Casilla and remove Morales - Casilla will probably be the least-used guy on the bench, but Morales has a bum wrist and might not be ready for Opening Day.

Batting order looked good, although so far Gardy has been batting Cuddyer ahead of Kubel, probably to break up the run of lefties a little.  I don't know whether that will be maintained into the regular season.

I think a bluer blue (kind of like you have for the Rangers) would look better for the Twins' hats, but they weren't bad.  I played against the White Sox, and their black and white was perfect.

Yeah that does look awful close to the Tigers. Might be better to just go back to the black hats. I thought the shade of blue would stand out a lot more than it does. Ahwell don't know if we don't try right.

And thanks for entertaining all my blahblahblah. I know its alot and I know its all based on preferences. Have a great weekend and I'll catch up toya later.

Turd

Ok, I made the tigers gray/blue instead of white/blue, and then made the rays white blue.  I think...I THINK, everthing looks good now.  My only complaint is the Braves...they are gray and blue, but their blue is a little light for my taste.  Not much ya can do about it at this point...

Turd

Most changes you guys suggested have been implemented. Thanks!

kahouty

Yeah lookin real good with the uniforms. I'll run through a few more games tonight and do some more testing, but I think this project is pretty close to a final. Thanks again for all the great work man!
