Yeah Turd I agree Anderson is a stud, but look at Gios stats. It hurt to put Gio down as the number two guy, but how can you leave him out? Remember the A's finished deadlocked at .500... 81-81. And Gio still managed to win 15 games. Oh and, there we exactly five pitchers in the AL that had more strikeouts AND a lower era than Gio.

In order, Jered Weaver/Felix Hernandez/CC Sabathia/David Price/Cliff Lee/Gio Gonzalez

Gio - 15-9  3.23 era  200 ip   171 ks

Anderson - 7-6  2.80 era 112 ip  75 ks

How many staffs in the league would choose the 112 innings pitched vs the 200? Gio 15th in the league in k's also, among the likes of King Felix, Verlander, Liriano, Sabathia, Price, Cliff Lee. I mean, I agree...given 200 innings Anderson would be similar, possibly better...but, he didn't pitch 200 innings.

Turd

Fair enough, I just really like Anderson. But, you're the team expert.

Turd

Just a heads up, we've got the ratings imported into my online editor and have begun the work on rating the ROM.  I'll keep you all posted as it progresses...thanks for all the input on lineups and whatnot, saved us boatloads of time.

broiler

the way he's been playing, I would rather see Cody Ross than guillen

Turd

I'm starting out putting pitcher ratings in place (the base ones that aren't subjective, like pitch speed).  I've got 7 clubs done...when I'm finished, all I'll have left to do for pitchers is curve values.  I'm purposely saving them for last because I feel they should be done together to keep some consistency going if possible.   I'm using curve value as the basis for how good a pitcher is, regardless of their actual arsenal of pitches.  It's how I rated them last year, and it's my preferred style.

Ventura

I'm late to the party, but here are a few quick notes on the White Sox.  This would be a more accurate (and less optimal) batting order for most of the season:

1 Pierre LF
2 Vizquel 3B
3 Rios CF
4 Konerko 1B
5 Kotsay DH
6 Quentin RF
7 Pierzynski C
8 Ramirez SS
9 Beckham 2B

The bench is okay, though Ramon Castro's another option instead of Viciedo.  If you want a no-DH lineup, I'd just drop Kotsay and move everyone up.

I would prefer Danks and Floyd as the starters, though Buehrle's a fan favorite.  And you need Matt Thornton in the bullpen.  By far the best White Sox reliever for the last several years, and probably the best lefty reliever in baseball.  Go with Thornton and Jenks since you want to include the closer.

Biggio

Completely agree on all counts, Ventura. Floyd is defiantly the better pitcher overall, plus gives the Sox a righty and a lefty, same goes for Thorton. Seriously considering putting in Ramon Castro and take out Manny Ramirez, the worst of the righties on the bench, and hardly had any ABs with Chicago anyway.

finally got a day off...gonna mess with the ROM a bit...got 4 pitchers left to rate speed for, then it's on to curve values.  Then, we can release a beta or something...

I'll be honest, I haven't spent an evening at my computer in a long time...other life stuff taking precedence. Same for WarrenMoonBomb...we're planning on getting back on track after Thanksgiving to finish the ROM.  We absolutely will be finishing the ROM, there's no question about that, we just needed a little break, that's all.

Really what's left before we released it to the wolves for suggestions and whatnot is pitcher curve ratings...stay tuned.

Not sure if I mentioned this or not, but a month or so ago, I received a hack that basically allows you to have every team have whatever uniform they want, and then the game automatically applies the home whites to the home team.  No more weird color combos or whatever. Now we can have St. Louis and Cincinatti have their same uniform without conflict...same thing with all the teams that share a blue...

wow...  i think i like that.  so it just does a color combo switch? or just automatically gives a home team white as their uniform?

any word on the base stealing hack?

I like it too...gives it a little more of a modern feel, if only just a little.  I always hated having to struggle with uniform colors.  We have this hack for the 32 Team Tecmo Bowl ROM and while there wasn't enough space for 30 extra uniforms, it was able to be done where it would just apply a hard-coded color to home or away jerseys.

I can customize this either way. I can set all the uniforms to be colored/away (gray for most, colored for some, like Houston) and then have the hack automatically just make pants/jersey white, keeping the cap, or I can switch this up and give all the teams their home whites and automatically apply the grays to away teams (gray, white, or any color I desire).

Remind me of what the base stealing hack is, and I'll bring it up in our next conversation.

Turd

After some initial discussions and studying original ROM, playtesting, etc, we got ATL and ARI finished for pitching.  28 more teams to go.  Editing resumes after thanksgiving. Have an awesome turkey day people...

TβG

the base stealing hack idea was to allow the editor to denote a minimum speed for the computer stealing 2nd. right now guys with minimum 142 can steal when computer controlled.

i think you or some other people looked into it and it looked harder than it first appeared.

Just a quick update, got some more playtesting an pitchers rated this evening...no deadline/ETA yet, but this ROM should topple last year's.

Ventura

Can't wait!  I'm excited to play this!  I was very impressed with the 2010 ROM.

Are you still planning on posting the 30-team editor?  Or did I miss it?

Turd

I posted it, but I'm working on some tweaks for it. Glad ya liked the 2010 ROM. Hope to see you around o play some RPC games. 2011 ROM will be done, it's just slow moving as were at te least fun part (pitcher ratings). Were moving along, though.

Turd

I have a guy looking into this and implementing the switch hitter hack...this thing just keeps getting better...
