I can't believe it's finally happening.  Online RBI.  The gods have spoken.

Thank God my b-day is Thursday.  Marquis' pic is my new request for a gift from my wife.  Forget that Swedish tickler machine.

I just wiped my ass then smelled the toilet paper.  What's wrong with me?

Hell of a series. I finished up at "work" and caught half the first game and most of the second. :)

Nightwulf

Can anyone watch the games that are being played?

Yes, this server has four-player support for games like Super Spike VBall.  The good part is that if two people connect after the original players, they will be players3 & 4, who obviouly can't have any support in RBI.  So they are basically spectators...

Did you sleep at all last night Gantry, posted at 5:50 , then again at 9:45, how do you do it.  Thanks for the response.

Went to bed around 6am, got woken up via customer page at 9am.  I'm just glad my day is free from customers, meaning I can do everything remotely....

And watch mode is definitely a fun way to see people play.  I might jump in on some games tonight just to watch and comment back on here....

Ryno23

how many games can be played at once?

Gantry

As long as you are all using different ROMs to play, it's pretty much unlimited.  But if you have people who all want to play the original RBI you have 5 ROMs to choose from as of today- nightwulfs 2-player pause ROM, licensed, unlicensed, overstuffed licensed and overstuffed unlicensed.  So 5 games at this point and if it ever got bigger than that we can make more ROMs...

This firewall at work can bite me, real hard. Maybe if I went to my boss and explained the situation, I can get the company firewall taken down...

there are also folks complaining about the lack of Bobby Grich, Dwight Evans, and Willie Randolph.

I gotta give props to newbie dukescb...we played an online curve game.  First of all, it was too choppy for curve (not complaining; I love online rbi too much to complain about it), so I'm in no way commenting on his hitting...but I had a perfect game going in the 7th inning, and with 2 strikes, Mookie lays down the absolute perfect bunt.  It was awesome!

I finally got my work/firewall issues installed my setting up a wireless connection and not having a firewall. Played a game against Ryno, and while it was choppy, it was sweet. I agree with JoeDirt that I think straight is the way to go online, due to the lag. I'll have to play more to test it out, though...

THat's weird because I didn't experience any lag at all.

I just flat out sucked!

Yo Gantry,

Just got back into town from Argentina. Didn't have any online access while I was gone. But, thanks to you guys, I had RBI on my laptop for the 10+ hour flights each way. That helped a lot.

And now you've made the impossible, possible. Much thanks and gratitude. Can't wait to have a game with you and the fellas.

Ps. Watch out for HoJo off the bench, he likes to bite...

One Flap Down is headed to the chatroom to find a game.

Those controllers are mighty tempting...does anyone know if snes/usb controllers could be used to play nes games?  Being that we (my roommate and I) have four snes controllers combined, it would cool just to get the 4-player snes adapter and just use that for both systems....

And, for those of you that did buy nes/usb controllers, how are they holding up?  Would you recommend them?  At the minimum, I wouldn't mind getting one for RBI and other favorites.

BeefMaster

If you're talking about SNES controllers with USB connectors that plug into your computer, you should be able to use them with any emulator.  I'd assume it would show up to Windows as a generic 8-button joystick (I'm not sure how the drivers work for custom controllers), and you could just map the buttons to whatever you want in FCEUltra.

Hi

The RBI primer says that the address for network play is dee-nee.com. Is that the entire address?

Thanks.

Get the Retro Pad.  This works tons better than the Gravis.  In fact I cannot notice ANY difference b/w the Retro Pad and regular controller for the NES box.  They are kind of expensive though ($26).
