I've been approached by several people asking if I'll do a ROM this year, as well as people posting on the forum asking if there was a 2012.  Gantry reassured me that dee-nee is lazy and probably wouldn't take the time to log into a website to enter their ratings.  But, a bunch of those people are on this forum all day long, so to take advantage of that, or someone else stumbling by, if you have a team that you're familiar with, post it here and I'll compile it into a ROM, and then attempt to normalize it so that it plays consistently.

Post in the format: (throws: RO, LO, RS, LS for overhand/sidearm respectively)
Batter Name (6 chars), Bats, Avg, HR, Contact, Power, Speed
Pitcher Name (6 chars), Throws, ERA, Sinker, CL, CR, Sinker MPH, Normal MPH, Fastball MPH, Stamina

The more people who sponsor a team or two, the better.

Teams started
Milwaukee - Turd
Philadelphia - thalivest
Detroit - thalivest
Miami - thalivest
Pittsburgh - nomaaaa
Cleveland - gantry
Houston - gantry
Atlanta - gantry
St. Louis - re-peat
Toronto - pmeth
Arizona - Peeklay
Colorado - Fathedx

Gantry

I'll gladly sign up for a couple teams, maybe the least popular ones?

Are people done with free agents yet?  I know nothing about current MLBers but will do some research.  Plus if you post here instead of entering yourself people can critique and make changes.

Give me any two teams you want Turd, either now of after people claim some guys.

Turd

Sounds good...I don't think free agents are quite solidified yet.  I do agree with you that posting makes it a little more transparent and collaborative.  If anything it'll foster a little more activity on the RBI board...

Gantry, if you want to wait a little bit to see who picks what team and wait until the FA stuff gets more solidifed, that's cool.  I just wanted to put out the post so it was ready if anyone else stopped by the site to see what was going on...

Some editing notes to discuss:

All players on their new teams if applicable (prince on Detroit)
Ratings based on last years numbers
Rate for curve style
Pitching is always difficult, but generally speaking, curve rating should be related to how good the pitcher is. Be careful about making pitchers too good. Curve style is hard enough!
Original ROM power range was 640 (Pitchers) - 954 (Andre Dawson)
Power based off of doubles/HR
Speed based off of SB/triples
Low power, high average guys - 830 or so is a good number for that style of player
Contact based on average
Pitchers: SP1, SP2, Setup, Closer

Gantry

I would argue that strikeouts play a large part in contact, or was it all average based in the original?

Turd

Interesting, I never used SO's in my contact ratings...

Turd since you've helped me with a few things I'd figure I'd reciprocate. A question where would players like Pujols, Reyes, Fielder etc end up? They played 2011 for one team but will play for different teams in 2012.

PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES

Rollns - S, 259, 11 - 28, 811, 142
Vctrno - S, 279, 17 - 16, 837, 138
Utley - L, 259, 11 -22, 865, 136 (upped his attributes due to injuries in 2011)
Howard - L, 253, 33 - 28, 904, 126
Pence - R, 314, 22 - 12, 848, 132
Ibanez - L, 245, 20 - 31, 841, 128
Ruiz - R, 283, 6 - 15, 787, 122
Polnco - R, 277, 5 - 17, 783, 128

Maybry - R, 273, 15 -  18, 842, 128
Frnsco - R, 244, 6 - 34, 809, 126
DBrown - L, 245, 5 - 33, 805, 132
Valdez - R, 249, 1 - 32, 778, 136

PITCHERS
Hllday - RO, 2.35 - 9, 6,11 74,84,93 52
CLee - LO, 2.40 - 8,10,7  70,81,93 45
Bstrdo - LO, 2.64 -
Madson, RO, 2.37 -8,4,7 -(15 stamina, not sure about the rest but let me get back to you or someone else can fll it in)

I'll try and do Detroit next.

Turd

This is a 2012 rom based on last years stats. Pujols should be on the angels, etc.

Turd

Also, speed can be in mph. I get that info from te pitchfx section of fan graphs.com.

Turd

Also, it should be 2 SP, setup guy, and closer.

Quick question regarding stamina. Going by the orginal starting pitchers go around 40 with Blyleven being the highest at 54 (Ryan, Scott, Witt and Sutton also had 50). What do you base stamina on? I was thinking IP & CG. I gave Halladay 52, don't know his IP/CG #'s for 2011 off the top, but he has the most complete games this decade so I thought 52 was accurate. Lee had a strectch of CG SHO's in 2011 as well, and Verlander was an animal in 2011 so I'm assuming at least 50 for him.

And what about relievers? In his prime Rivera was known for doing his own set up work, many 1+/2 inning saves. So just the standard 15?!?

Thoughts?

Turd

Baseline is SP 40, RP 15. I use IP/G and if it's out of ordinary I adjust higher or lower.

thalivest

I'll do Miami as well. So I'll take the Tigers and Marlins.

I was able to dig up my old script from last year to pull batter data from BR...you can use it to assist you with your team editing:

http://www.sweethoss.com/batters.php

A few notes:
It offers suggested power, speed, contact based on a few base formulas. Not perfect by any means, but a good starting point.  Some of the suggestions are way off as there's no real AI built into it.

Any switch hitter is set to "L" for batting, as was the original game.

Power numbers in red are for guys who hit for average but had low HR so you are aware of it and can adjust their power as needed.  See "Nyjer Morgan."

Hopefully this helps gather stats as its all in once place and should save some time going back and forth for teams...

P.S. The other nice thing is it creates the player in the format I need to import into the editor, so that's a plus.

Gantry

Might as well give me 3 teams with low Dee-Nee membership - Cleveland, Houston and Atlanta
