FORUMS GOING DOWN AT 9PM TONIGHT!!!

I'm doing the final step to consolidate all of dee nee, rbicentral and my personal sites by moving the forums to a virtual server running at my house.  THe last step is the forums, my test went well so I'm doing tonight.  Here's the schedule:

1)  Take the current forum offline
2)  Change the DNS so forums.dee-nee.com points to my house IP
3)  Export the database to an sql file
4)  Upload the file from work to my house
5)  Import the file on the new server
6)  Profit

Steps #2 & #4 are going to take the longest, so don't expect it up until morning.  When you change your DNS record, it can take from a few minutes to 12 hours before your system knows of the changes. 

Anyway, you are free to keep trying until you get in.  Test thoroughly

It's surprisingly only about 400 megs, didn't take long at all.  If wulf or anyone wants to try to break in the test board the url is:

Everything you add there will get deleted though.

It appears the test version is read-only... I was going to add some presidential death threats to test whether you would get to deleting it before the Secret Service found it, but I guess that'll have to wait for another time.

I didn't mean for it to be read only, and works for me.  Probably because I have admin rights.   Guess I'll try to create a new account and see what's up.

I registered a new user and made a test post no problem, well after I installed sendmail so I can send activation emails.  Can someone else try?  Beefy can you send a screenshot of what you are seeing?

I got an error about the location not being found, seems like a few places (themes, attachments) have specifically set the local path which has changed.  I could do an "ln -s" but best to figure them out now.  Not sure if these will have to be re-done after I wipe out the db for the final transfer, but I'll keep track just in case.

Try again, as it works for me but we have different errors.

So far it is a lot less scarry than I thought.  No hangups so far. 


Making a dictatorial decision to have new users default to the modern theme.  The old SMF theme is ugly and the text sizes make me sad.  You old farts may have to manually change, though you are probably locked in.   Should also make the quick reply on by default.
