alrite this may have been discussed here, or in another forum on this site, but i dont check anything besides RBI talk, so im goin with it...

I'm reading The Bad Guys Won! (about the '86 Mets) and reading it through the eyes of an RBI veteran is really pretty funny at times... im too young to really know what most of these players were like in their playing days (besides very well known ones, NY guys and guys whose careers lasted into my era)... gettin the news that Kerfield was at one time 295 lbs blew me away... and there are funny descriptions when all i have is RBI to go on from that time.. for instance, the discuss the powerful Glen Davis in the Houston line-up.. what?? this guy is a complete bitch whenever my buddy and I choose to use the 'stros... when the tell a guy's stats, everything sounds all too familiar (darryl's 27 HRs).. sometimes the descriptions nail it tho, discussing Tudor's curveball... i mean i could go on with all the stuff in there, but i dont wanna bore you guys... id just heavily recommend pickin this up, regardless of whether you loved/hated/were indifferent to this team... its a fun read, made even better by having RBI knowledge...

Quick addition... if anyone needs extra motivation to get out of the Santana level of postings, the guy was a sick fuck... and would routinely bring animal/midget/etc porn into the locker room... ahh get me outta this

Currently reading this book, picked it up for $7 at BAM.  Good read so far I'll bump this thread to start posting RBIer stories.

- Rafael Santana pissed on a teammate on the team bus (he was passed out and whipped it out and just started pissing)

- Kevin Mitchell thought Darryl Strawberry was white.  Rookie ball, players go to play pickup basketball, KM puts a hard foul on the Straw, Straw starts with the do you know who I am stuff.  Mitchell didn't know says he thought Strawberry was a white guy.  Anyhow fighting ensues, Mitchell leaves vowing revenge, other guys warn Straw the Mitchell is certifiably insane, so they leave, Mitchell comes back with baseball bat but no one was there.

Ed Hearn loves telling stories of the Championship season.  Once for example the Mets were on teh bus from Pittsburgh airport to the downtown hilton.  It was a late night, Hearn was dozing off, then

Sid Fernandez was  from Hawaii and saw a house there for $160,000 and called it perfect for him and it was for sale.  Davey Johnson (owner of a real estate licence), didn't understand why he wouldn't buy it, he said Sid you make 200,000 just buy the thing, it'll be a good investment, Sid nods and says I'll think about it.

2 weeks later, Johnson asks him about the house.  "Nah Skip, I couldn't do it, I'm just not so sure that I can live on $40,000 for the entire year"

Sorry, Books-A-Million, it was on the bargain shelf.   I recommend this book, I hate the Mets, and always hated those Mets, but this book is a very good read.

Finished this book, highly recommend to all RBI fans, better written than one pitch away and lots of great info.  I'll try to get more quotes in later in the week, tough to type when trying to keep a 7 month old away from the keyboard
