JoeDirt and I just played a game online and I got a glitch that I don't think I've even seen before.  A foulball that landed semi-close to the wall but clearly hit the ground before his 1B got it.  It was called out, any ever see that before?   The wall had nothing to do with it mind you.  His fielder was just about as close as you could get to the ball without catching it.  A short bounce then an out.  Most weird...

Have to admit I've never seen that one... but could it be a glitch unique to online play? I would guess that maybe the timing and position of the ball and fielder didn't line up perfectly across the connection -- maybe if there's a tiny bit of lag, things like this can happen? Just a guess...

Could be related to the online lag or the emulator, but the way it bounced leads me to believe it's a real glitch.  Did everything a normal ball that bounces just in front of you does, except for the out..

Most strange indeed...

Dude, I've seen thousands of batted balls drop right in front of the fielder, and I've never seen that glitch. It's pretty clear that you either catch it on a short hop (and do the splits) or get an out (and pose like the statue of liberty). Never seen a bouncer turn into an out on the console version; it just doesn't happen; the fielder's pose would give it away if it did. (Note: Which pose did your guy strike when he got the phantom out?)

Unless there's some Nightwulf-type explanation buried in the fielding engine somewhere, I'd guess this isn't a real glitch in the original game. After all, the position of the ball and so on may be a tiny bit off when you're playing it on a different system, with different controls and across an Internet connection.

Not that this takes anything away from the game itself, which continues to kick ass.

My god.

There is nothing that can happen online that can't happen on a real NES.
