Maybe we can vote for the best teams!

Pleased with my picks thus far considering the shit position I had in the draft. Surprised McGwire or Bell were not picked in the first two picks. They consistently have the best stats for the first rounders chosen here.

Nomaaa is going to find out how much of a bust Reggie Jackson will be, as he always is in the FRBI leagues for first rounders.

GDavis/Beef/TBG, I was very shocked to see you guys take Canseco as the second pick. Seems to go against past drafting strategies for you three power lovers.

Canseco has the second-highest power rating in the game, after only Dawson (who was already taken).

My bad, I got mixed up.

Nacho, it'll be interesting to see if you maintain the past strategies you employed. I know both our organizations valued speed over power to a certain extent in some situations. I got my eye on you buddy! Your team worked out well in season V, but you missed the playoffs in VI. I think in VI, you over valued speed in the upper tier for power players.

Head games going on with the seeds I'm planting!

Wow, Nomaaa shocks the draft by selecting Raines with his second pick. Raines is very productive overall - he hit .675 in season V and led the league in runs. Worth a second pick? Depends how Nomaaa's strategy works out if he's drafting a certain philosophy, but he left good power on the board for TBG's crew. I like the pick. Raines usually goes in the second or third round. Great speed-power-contact combo.

I think Mike D and I reached on Raines and selected him around where nomaaa did once and regretted it. We did great the season we had Strawberry and EDavis, and I think that made us overvalue speed in the next draft.

fightonusc

Raines is a solid pick who will put the ball in play and make things happen. Plus he's a solid cocaine distributor for the rest of the team. You can't put a tag on that kind of morale booster.

there are also folks complaining about the lack of Bobby Grich, Dwight Evans, and Willie Randolph.

But you can get your cocaine a coupel rounds later with Keith Hernandez.  Don't need to reach for cocaine.

I noticed that. It's tough to layoff speed and decent power since it appears alluring.

Tempo just grabbed the best C in the draft. Not bad there Tempo, but team TBG just received another gift for their power philosophy. Carter is always picked in the third round, so nothing surprising really, but good call on Tempo's part for having an idea. Sorry to say, but I was thinking Tempo would be clueless for the draft.

i definitely thought about some other options, maybe a non-OF, but Raines offers something most guys just cant give you

and that's Tim Raines baby!

Congrats Nomaaa.  Dee-Nee's new Sandwich King.

It's true that I've never done this before, but I was operating on the idea of position scarcity, which is huge in real fantasy baseball (which I also don't play)

He knows that he doesn't have to have a SS right? We only separate into IF, OF, and C.

We don't need to have pitchers??

I think we do have to separate specifically by position in the infield. Fighton made that clear in the draft thread ... I think. Time to ask him for clarification.

Shit. I don't think we've done it that way before.

We did actually. I know I did for those two seasons I ran and that blueprint was taken from Fighton's prior seasons. That's why all the teams had a catcher and looking at the rosters from the season excel files, all teams drafted by specific position. I think bench players were able to fill in anywhere during the season.
