Yeah, I'm drafting according to position. Would love to add another 1B but DaEvans already manning it.

Congrats Nomaaa.  Dee-Nee's new Sandwich King.

Need a C, 1B, 2B, SS, 3B and three OF (don't care if they are LF, RF or CF). Always been that way in my leagues.

there are also folks complaining about the lack of Bobby Grich, Dwight Evans, and Willie Randolph.

Nacho

Yeah, definitely would have taken Schmidt if I had paid closer attention to the rules.

nomaaa

so are you saying you dont know schmidt?

Weird that people would start drafting without reading the rules

Darky

Nice pick there Nacho with an old Empire player! Leo will produce and come through in the clutch. One of my favorites in FRBI. I bet you were thrilled when nomaaa took Candy Mldndo! Mdlck was actually a good pick on nomaaa's part. For some reason, despite his contact/power numbers compared to other players with a little better ratings, Mdlck is equal or greater in production according to the stats for the 5 seasons I have.

mad dog is a beast in the street.

disappointed he's not a third baseman, however

Mad Dog hit over .600 and led the Empire in HR's in season VI. He'll give you over .500 with over 60 ab's. Sorry to say, but Leo outperforms Candy every season and has a higher rating according to my system of rating players. The big difference is the runs scored and avoiding double plays and put outs due to Leo's speed. Candy will give you close to .500 and maybe go double digits in HR's.

Nope, I was actually set to take Maldonado (and considering someone else who hasn't been picked), but then took another look at Leonard and felt pretty good about taking him.

Fkn Matt Nokes. Is that the first catcher to go? I can't belive Shooty did that. Was that originally Rack's move?
Quote from: Nacho on 03/15/16, 10:17:08 AMWe've had babe drafts. We've had a sandwich draft. We can have our babes and eat sandwiches, too.

I already took Gary Carter and I know Laundry has been taken as well

So has Gedman. I think Nokes is 4th.

Yes.  And after Nokes there's a big drop off at catcher in terms of power.  So tbg is a moron.

Darky

Roster-wise, this draft is much different than the last two drafts when I was commissioner because there are 8 teams instead of 10. There'll be 16 position players on the bench who would have otherwise been drafted in a 10-team league. The scoring should take a significant bump up for this season. Just by looking at the rosters right now, I can see a difference in quality with the first 4 hitters across the board compared to the VI draft.

TBG, you missed out on Nokes with your last pick! Carter was taken by Tempo in the 1st round, then Gedman was take by McLane in the 4th round, Nacho took Laudnr in the 4th, and Shooty took Nokes (852) in the 5th. Boone is the next catcher with the highest power left (831).

In FRBI season V, here's how the two produced in a 22-game season:

Boone hit .489 (47/96) and had 10 HR's with 33 RBI, 26 R, and 24 2B's.
Nokes hit .528 (56/106) and had 12 HR's with 37 RBI, 26 R, and 15 2B's.

TBG wanted no part of Nokes - he made that clear over PM.

Beefmaster was lobbying hard for Ripken.  He actually threatened to delete his account if we didn't make that pick.

Good call on Ripken since the SS position has low quality depth after Tramml. Schfld, Ripken, and Tramml are even when it comes to production according to the stats. Tramml's speed gives him more runs and that compensates for having fewer RBI's, and his quality contact rating gives him a good average that usually outperforms Ripken and sometimes Schfld. After Tramml, there is a huge cliff if there was one for a position.

McLane is either going to pick OF Hndrsn or 3B Mitchl according to our projections.

Anyone have a problem with doubling up for rounds 13-14 and 15-16, since we're talking bench guys/RPs at that point?
