Here is a schedule. . . made in my old ass excel (2003)

Thanks to Ryno...I was a mess at figuring it out

The first year I was commissioner for FRBI V, I did the schedule by hand on two large pieces of paper. I went with a 21 game schedule where divisional teams played each other 3 times and non-division teams played each other twice. I had to figure out/puzzle together so that non-divisional opponents played a home and away with two different SPs. I also had to make sure that the divisional opponents SPs didn't start against the same team 3 times - all that so the SPs never started in consecutive games. It was differently max usage of my brain to puzzle that together by hand - took me two days and many hours.

Ryno's schedule seems good with a 18 game season. Everybody plays each other twice with a home and away. Didn't look close enough to check if SP's weren't throwing consecutively to certain teams and on so on.

Here is the puzzle I put together by hand (highlighted teams denotes home games in the second tab) :

Also attached and never released publicly or privately, the stats from season V that had a 21-game schedule

Ryno gave an excellent format to Tempo. Everyone playing each other twice in a 18-game season seems cool beans. Don't matter to me. I was just showing how I manually did my schedule and certainly don't expect it to be replicated since 21 games in a season is maybe excessive. Besides, it'll take hours to rejumble and strip down that schedule down to 17 games with everything in order such as home and aways as well as SPs pitching alternatively to all the teams and not in consecutive games.

Tempo said thanks to Ryno and didn't object, so I assumed he is going with that. Just the messenger my friend.

Darky

Tempo, have you decided on the errors for this year? I haven't seen anything official and I would like to know so I can insert that number into my Summer Classic Tournament rom.

I'll ask again.

What will the errors be set to?

How many games will this season be for each team?

Playoff format?

Who is keeping stats?

How will the games be televised?

Rotating starting pitchers right?

Tell us more about how you plan to run the league.

somebody had to be last, and it probably should have been the team that finished the worst from last year

Well, I picked next to last ... last year. Like I pointed out, the first 4 picks are at a huge advantage in a 10-team season. I looked over all the seasons, and those who picked 1-4 heavily represented in the playoffs and finals. TBG won back-to-back titles in seasons II and III, and both of those seasons he had the first pick. Turd picked second in season VI, and he was a rookie. Dawson carried him to the finals and the Legion of Doom (Beef and TBG), picked second that year and won it all. Last year, Tempo picked first and Dawson's 22 HR's carried him for the championship. The next batter with the most homeruns hit 14 homeruns. Out of all the seasons, the top 4 picks are heavily represented in the playoffs and the few exceptions came from me, Nacho/MikeD, and Ultimate ... and that's because people like RePeat, Attez, and TBT made dumb mistakes in the draft and then some trades helped my team and Nacho/Mike D's team in season V - that season I picked next to last and Nacho/Mike D picked last. To succeed in the bottom of the draft, you need to not make mistakes, rely on other people's draft mistakes, and get lucky in a trade.

So that's 2 drafts where I picked next to last, and one draft where I picked last. In season IV when Fighton ran it, I came in early in the season and took over for Ryno since he disappeared from the forum for a long time. I pulled off a series of trades and got to the finals.

Most of these questions were not asked before, but I will answer them now:

Errors will be set to 8

Each team will play each other team twice

Playoffs - we will do two divisions.  The second and third place teams in each division will face each other in a best of seven to play the first place team of that division.  The winners of each division mini-tournament will play in the finals against each other.

Games will be uploaded to YouTube once they are done.  If there is a way to broadcast them live as well, let me know and I will try and figure it out...but I don't know how to do that as of now, if it's possible,

Yes, SPs will be rotated.

Divisions (randomly created) and schedules will be posted later on this week.  If I am going to go random for the divisions, what is a way to show what I am doing live besides for going on Facebook?  There's obviously some concern from SOMEONE here that not all is on the up and up, so if people want to witness it and there's an easy way to go about doing so, I'm fine with that.

there are also folks complaining about the lack of Bobby Grich, Dwight Evans, and Willie Randolph.

Shooty

Need to be OFFICIAL, imo.  Maybe a proclamation of some sort?  Could Tempo hire a Town Crier?

Nacho

Are we going to have to do the whole draft over again from scratch because Tempo forgot to make this all official?

nomaaa

could've easily put OFFICIAL in the thread title and saved himself some trouble

GDavis

I thought it was a mock draft to get us ready.  Can't wait for the real draft.

Gantry

I'm getting reports to moderator asking as if this draft was official.  I am happy to report that none of this is...

Nacho

Is that your OFFICIAL judgement or your practice one?

I said errors at 8 (and eighties at 8) because I thought that's what fighton had them at last year. I don't want them to dominate the landscape. Would 5 be better?

You dorks, this is why I asked because Tempo asked us and there were some responses, but nothing was concluded. He asked, there some responses, and Strassy didn't reply to those responses. Seems logical for me to ask. He said 8, then appeared flexible, then no official hammer came down. Way to read the posts fellas!

Errors will be at 8.

There may be a trade coming.  A rarity - I am negotiating to make the trade less beneficial to me because I thought the initial offer (which was proposed to me) was too one-sided in my favor.

Trade

The Empire gets:
Randy Bush
Jose Uribe

Geo Metros get:
Ozzie Smith
Marty Barrett

Darkside's original offer was Smith for Uribe straight up.  Upon looking at it, it wasn't that crazy, since Uribe does have marginally better contact and power ratings to go with less speed.  But it didn't sit well with me seeing how he took him in the 3rd round for some reason.  So I decided that we should exchange Bush and Barrett as well since Bush gives the Empire more of a bench edge.

So Darky spends more time analyzing Fantasy RBI but then uses that information to make terrible decisions?  Makes sense.

Nacho

To be clear, Darky offered to trade his third round pick to Strassy for a guy who Strass didn't want or need but reached for in the 14th round just to increase the likelihood that I'd get stuck with one of the three worst players in RBI.
