Swinging Dicks (2-1) at Montreal Exposé (1-2)

In an exciting game that saw the lead change several times, Ryno's Swinging Dicks outscored the Exposé 8-3 in the final two innings to improve to a 2-1 record.

Down 16-14 in the top of the 8th, the Swinging Dicks ledoff the inning with pinch hitter Vada Pinson. Pinson reached first base courtesy of a Rabbit Maranville error on a bloop popup. RP Carl Hubbel got the next two batters out and then Joltin Joe stepped up and delivered a game-tying shot. Mark McGwire and Roger Maris followed up by blasting back-to-back homeruns making the score 18-16.

In the bottom half of the 8th, Shooty's Exposé got back-to-back doubles and a single from E.Mathews, Billy Williams, and Jack Clark which produced 2 runs to tie up the game in front of lively crowd at Loverboy Stadium. In the top of the 9th, DiMaggio hit the go-ahead single putting runners at the corner. McGwire then hit an opposite-field 3 run HR to give the Swinging Dicks all that they would need to capture a 22-19 victory.

Ryno's team got 17 RBIs from DiMaggio, McGwire, and Maris. McGwire hit 3 homeruns, R.Maris hit a pair, and Cronin also added a pair from the 7-hole. Joe DiMaggio hit for the cycle and led all players with 7RBI. Lee Smith earned the win with his 1-run 9th.

For the Exposé, Mickey Mantle hit 3 homeruns.

#61
The Empire (1-2) at Purple Reign (2-1)

The Purple Reign defeated the Empire in another low scoring Fantasy Arcade game. Nacho's bullpen allowed 0 runs and only two hits in the final two innings with the game on the line. "Fergie" Jenkins also pitched exceptionally in his 3 innings of long relief and only gave up 2 runs off three hits.

The Empire scored 10 runs in the first five innings to take a 10-6 lead. From that point on, Purple Reign outscored the Empire 6-0 in the final 4 innings. "Fergie" Jenkins, Cy Young, and Bruce Sutter surrendered only 5 hits in those 4 innings and they were aided by superb defense with 3 double plays executed. Offensively for the Purple Reign, they were led by Bruce Hornsby who hit 3 HRs and Joe Adcock who went 5/5 with 3 double and 2 HRs along with 4 RBI. Joe Adcock hit the game winning double in the bottom of the 8th inning.

It was a dismal offensive day for the Empire. Hack Wilson (4/5) HR, 2B), was the only hitter to have a good day. As noted before, the Empire hit into 3 double plays and with Ashby pinch hitting and representing the tying-run, Bruce Sutter's nasty cutter produced a game-ending double play. In the history of the Fantasy RBI League, teams who hit into 3 double plays only win 2% of the time!

I'm in this league?

Yep! You don't remember Steely Dan's Revenge? That's your squad. To recap, I started this league in 2018 and did one week, and then there was a long stop until last week when I decided to reboot the league. Also, I think I might take over your league that was never finished and reboot that ... maybe. I will also be taking over nomaaa's Super Nes league that is 3 weeks in. I think I'll start that league in the next two days to keep up what ever momentum is left and so that people don't forget about their drafted teams. The Super Nes league will be played once a week while this league is going, and when this Arcade league is done, then the Super Nes league will continue. Also for anyone else paying attention, the Super Nes league will be expanded to 18 games.

U7 (2-1) at The Hulk Hogans (1-2)

U7 used plenty offense and a clutch bullpen to hold on to a 23-21 win over the Hulk Hogans.

With the game 23-15 in favor of Ultimate's U7 in the bottom of the 7th, GDavis' team kept fighting back to the last batter. Down 23-21 in the bottom of the 9th and with runners on second and third with two outs, Joe Niekro got Dave Righetti to ground out and pick up the win.

Leading the way for the U7, the Yaz smacked 3 HRs and drove in 7 while The Thrill blasted a pair of shots with 4 RBI.

For the Hulksters, Jim Rice hit 3 HRs and drove in 7. And Stan Musial hit two HRs.

For like 3-4 innings, none of the Spiders could catch up to Scott's 25-35 MPH heaters.  Weird.

I would have liked to have those two runs back we lost with the throw into the LF stands.

there are also folks complaining about the lack of Bobby Grich, Dwight Evans, and Willie Randolph.

Quite the game by Steely Dan's Revenge.  Down 10-2 midway through the 3rd.  And came back to win 22-11.

Koufax was spectacular! 5 innings pitched and only gave up 4 hits and 1R off a HR. That's a rarity when a pitcher gives up less hits than innings pitched. Steely Dans Revenge is right back in it and they showed how dangerous they can be.

Another sharp outing was The Empire's Drysdale - 4.2 innings pitched and only gave up 6 hits and three runs along with 1 HR. He only gave up 1 hit in the final three innings - retired the side in the 7th and 9th. And good to see Hack Wilson show up and go deep 3 times! Kingman continues to crush for Beefy.

And then GPerry only gave up 4 runs and 1HR and 6 hits in his four inning CG! Nomaaa's pitching staff is leading the league in least runs allowed and I am assuming ERA - doing the stats this weekend.

Anyways, I found an online scorekeeper that generates a boxscore and keeps stats although I am still trying to figure out everything Scored two games so far and I have to edit the first game scored since I made all kinds of mistakes while trying to figure out the program. It is my goal to have the stats done by tomorrow and then week 5 will take place on Monday.

Also, the site I am using for the league did the scheduling and it was dumb. If you noticed that you have either been home or away the whole time, blame the schedule generator! It'll flip after as soon as everyone has played each other, but I may edit that since the long road trips for teams is too weary. And the way the schedule works, a SP is set to face the same team twice, but I'll fix that and keep the same pitcher in the rotation after everyone has played each other once so each team doesn't face the same pitcher twice.

Current standings and schedule for Monday. 2 weeks have almost gone by and we are averaging 2 games a week - Dee Nee! Recaps and boxscores to be posted today and tomorrow.

U7 (2-2) at Montreal Exposé (2-2)

The FRBI Arcade media built up the meeting between the U7 and Exposé as a high scoring slugfest featuring displays of fireworks all night after an imagined onslaught of homeruns by both teams. Only the hometeam showed up with their big sticks to the delight of the fans at Loverboy Stadium.

The Exposé made quick work of the U7 and mercy ruled then in four innings by scoring 17 runs led by Mickey Mantle (pictured below), Reggie Jackson, and Eddie Mathews who all combined to go 12/12 with 3HR, 4 doubles, and 11 RBI.

Gaylord Perry was sharp and had the U7 hitters off-balance in those 4 quick innings.

The game was the shortest ever in the history of the Fantasy RBI Arcade league.
