For like 3-4 innings, none of the Spiders could catch up to Scott's 25-35 MPH heaters.  Weird.

Lot of opposite field hitting. Maybe Fighton instructed his hitters to sit back and think the other way in order to be patient on the puss pitches and not be out in front too much! When I played, I'd try and go the other way on those off-speed pitchers who didn't throw hard at all. In college during a fall ball game, our coach had the entire team go the other way for every at-bat. If anyone pulled the ball, they immediately came out of the game!

IMO

Yes! The standings generator has it wrong, but I have the score difference as the second highest determiner for tiebreakers.

Anyways, I think I got the hang of the scoresheet program now. Took me a while to figure out substitutions and saving lineups - took me almost an hour to fix a substitution. So the scoring took a LOT longer than anticipated, but it should be easy going now. However, that put me behind on setting up the stat Excel sheet and the inputting the stats. It'll come hopefully tomorrow and if not, by Tuesday. Week 5 will happen tomorrow, updated stats or not. BTW, a couple of the boxscores are a little off due to learning on the fly and it's not life or death if it is so since I don't want to go back to the scoresheet program and fiddle with it and then have it saved oddly in the stat program that it feeds.

The Empire (2-2) at Sides of Beef (3-1)

Hack Wilson had a huge day and Don Dyrsdale held down the #1 scoring offense to hand the Sides of Beef their first defeat of the season at Dakota Taco Buffet Stadium.

Hack Wilson blasted 3 shots and drove in 8 runners to help carry The Empire. Don Drysdale only gave up 6 hits and 3 runs as well as 1 hit down the stretch. Drysdale pitched 4 2/3 of relief and picked up the save. The Empire pitching staff was sharp in location and had the Sides of Beef off-balance all game with off-speed pitches on hitter's counts. The Sides of Beef, the #1 hitting team in the league, were held to a season low 11 runs. However, the Sides of Beef lined into 3 double plays and had runners thrown out at third base two times tallying 5 X outs. Those X outs killed potential big innings and maybe the game - RBI teams are 2W-86L when they commit 5 X outs.

The Empire continues to struggle in the late innings. The Empire only scored 1 run in the last three innings and haven't scored a run in the 8th or 9th in the last two games.

Swinging Dicks  (2-2) at Steely Dan's Revenge (1-3)

Sandy Koufax took the ball in the top of the 5th and pitched lights out by giving up only 4 hits and one run as he led the way to the Steely Dan's Revenge first win of the season. Koufax's performance was arguably the best ever in the history of the FRBI League. It is a rarity that a pitcher pitches at least 5 innings and surrenders less hits than innings pitched.

The Swinging Dicks jumped out to a 10-2 lead after the top of the 3rd inning, but from there they would only score 1 run the rest of the way as they were outscored 20-1.

Dawson and Fisk both hit 2 homeruns and the two combined to go 11/12 and 12 RBIs.

wait, so which is it? the way it is now, it appears that tiebreakers go:

a. total runs
b. run differential

i figure it probably doesn't matter all that much, and things will look different by week 18 or whatever, but i'm curious

Congrats Nomaaa.  Dee-Nee's new Sandwich King.

koufax pitched an absolute gem, but let's not forget Frank Viola's 2017 opening day performance where he was a pitcher single away from a 3 inning perfect game in a 10-0 victory

Blue Footed Boobies (3-1) at Purple Reign (2-2)

The Blue Footed Boobies moved into first place of the FRBI Arcade League by way of outstanding pitching and a 4-run 9th inning insurance rally. Marchl relieved V.Blue and surrendered zero runs in his 3 sharp innings to pick up the win. Vlnzla earned the save by only allowing 2 runs in the 8th and 9th.

With a slim 11-10 lead in the top of the 9th, the Blue Foots scored 4 runs which was more than enough for El Toro who breezed through the 9th to end the game. Nomaaa's Blue Footed Boobies have surged into first place thanks to the league's #1 pitching staff who have given up the least runs. Week 5 should be a dandy as the Blue Foots meet the Sides of Beef and their #1 offense.

Offensively for the the Blue Foots, J.Bench went 5/5 with a pair of HRs and 5 RBI.

Cleveland Spiders (1-3) at The Hulk Hogans (2-2)

Down 18-9 in the top of the 8th, the Cleveland Spiders crawled back into the game with a 7-run frantic rally to narrow their deficit 18-16. However, in the top of the 9th, Todd Worrell ended all hope for a Spiders comeback win as he pitched a scoreless yet nerve-racking 9th to pick up the save.

The Hulksters jumped out to a 17-6 lead after 5 innings and starter Mike Scott was cruising until he was chased out in the 8th inning. In the 9th and facing the heart of the order, Todd Worrell quickly disposed of Joe Morgan and Willie McCovey. Babe Ruth then drove a screaming line drive into the left-center gap for a double. George Foster, one of the most feared right-handed sluggers of his era, stepped up to the plate and represented the tying run. With the 3-1 count in Foster's favor, Worrell jammed him to weakly ground out to the SS and Babe Ruth was thrown out at 3B to end the game and send the Hulkster Stadium into a frenzy.

Bobby Bonds led all hitters with 3 homeruns, and Ernie Lombardi led all hitters with 5 RBI from the 8-hole.

Thanks man! Also, I didn't mean to downplay Viola's near perfect mercy rule game from 2017 when Fighton ran the last league ... that finished! Easily top 5 in best pitching performances in the league.

Game time will be at 1pm Dee Nee time as scheduled. So after I run the games and upload to YT, it should be about 2pm.

The BallStat - BallScore program I have tracks all imagined stats and can generate individual leaders as well as any other stat that can be thought of. It's used by coaches at many levels and is used by MaxPreps. So season stats is taken care of with the program and that saves me a lot of time. I'm at work and will be inputting weeks 1-3 into the program. Doubt I'll have all weeks done before gametime, but after week 5, I'll be able to produce a leaders board and team stats - Dee Nee!

One last thing, the errors have been set to 5 all season and we'll keep it there - keeps it professional and more random with the errors.

Final last thing - we need to go Twitch and live. After nomaaa ran the games live on Twitch, I fell in love with it since it's live and there's other people watching. I'll just need to buy a new laptop soon.

I forgot. I'm sure I did, but can't remember. My Lenovo laptop is 5 years old and doesn't have the graphics card or share features needed to stream. Something didn't work with OBS Studio if I recall right. I need a new laptop regardless and it has to be Apple since I gotta support the local company in Cupertino - the Apple Campus is like 15 minutes from my old neighborhood - blah blah. What do you suggest so that Twitch's stream runs like a champ?

Never seen that! I also saw somebody beat out a throw from third to first base - forgot who it was and which game. I think it was one of the Hulksters.

The Empire's late inning scoreless jinx and streak continues, holy shit. What's so hard about scoring a run down the stretch?!

Those Boobies look great.

That's 1971 vintage Vida Blue out there.

the pitching coming from Steely Dan's Revenge the past two days has been nothing short of incredible.  Koufax gave up no runs in three of his four innings after coming off that legendary performance.  WE'RE BACK, BABY

That was just embarrassing.

The double plays in the 8th and 9th inning made me laugh.

Darky

I was expecting Nacho's team to explode any inning, but they just couldn't get a rally going against M.Scott. Only 4 runs!

Hack Wilson needs to hit at least 1 HR a game along with Hank Aarron. Neither went deep but had hits. My bottom of the lineup is scrappy and they can deliver here and there, but then they'll disappear and if my big starts don't have big days, it'll be hard for us to win. My pitching staff won't keep throwing low teen numbers and when they don't, well, Hack Wilson needs to be going deep 2-3 times a game or Hank. Very frustrating.

Yeah, Nomaaaa's team has the early "Look". And I hate to say it, but the Cleveland Spiders just lack pop and consistency as well as an inconsistent pitching staff to pull wins together. They don't look too good, but it's early. I also thought U7 would be doing much better, but they seem to be missing something.

The league is still wide open and remember the playoff format - top 5 get an automatic bid, and then the 6-7-8 place teams will do a play-in for the 6th seed. So basically, avoid the 9th and last place finish.
