is that vince colman on 50 shades of beef?

2 things seemed out of the ordinary in his pinch hit appearance:
1. he hit a (just) foul ball down the line that was obliterated
2. he didnt beat out a grounder to short

Those Boobies look great.

That's 1971 vintage Vida Blue out there.

he pitched another great one today.
but a lot of kudos also need to go to marichal who figured it out in his last two innings. keeping beef scoreless after taking the lead in the top half was very clutch

Christ... four runs after the second inning is NOT gonna cut it. 0-4 from the pinch hitters, and the meat of the order just could not make anything happen.

Yeah, very disappointing on both counts (that the ball went just foul and that he didn't beat out the grounder). I was hoping for a slap hit and was almost very excited for an unexpected dinger.

So basically, avoid the 9th and last place finish.

Thanks.  Great tip.

Coleman's ratings are 26/690/148 and I double checked the rom to look for anything unusual and there wasn't and shouldn't be since the arcade rom simply required swapping players as opposed to manually inputting a lot of players like on the Super RBI league. He did mash the ball down the line and it had to be at max 690 power when he did that. As far as the ground ball, he hit it pretty hard and the throw to first was a seed. I too was surprised but maybe it would look more normal at normal NES speed. I have the emulator throttle on 180 and I score the games from my media player that plays back the window's recording.

Don't forget Coleman's 690 power had a 64 point PH boost.  He did mash it though.

But Maranville hit a dinger this season with 705 power and no boost.

Ohhhh, that's right! Rabbit could be one of those players who performs above his hitting ratings. 1 HR can happen, but let's see if he goes yard 2-3 more times with that 705 power. Nacho had Doran go career year for him in the last league finished. There are a few on NES who do that (hit above their hitting ratings), and I do have a slight idea with the scouting stats I have, but the number of games are limited and will be interesting to see if this season shows that those players can do it consistently.

Update on scoring - GROWING PAINS! Complications come when I have to score an error after a hit where the runners advance safely after the hit but 1-2 score and 1 runners is hosed at home. Then a linedrive out at 3B where the 3B throws to the wall in the fall area and the runner on third advances. Took me forever to figure out the proper sequence of scoring. Also doesn't help that my hand written scoresheets weren't meticulous.  But this once I got this scoresheet program down, it should be eazypleazy.

The Rabbit Maranville pick is a crapshoot.  On paper he should be terrible.  705 power with a 36 contact rating.  But that's the rub.  I want him to hit like a pitcher (or worse).  With his 146 speed, the softer he hits, the more he should get on base.  As long as he keeps it on the ground, I'm expecting he should be OK.  Maybe even a couple inside the park homers potentially.  This is all just speculation.  Be interested to hear from Darky how he fared in sims.  Although he probably didn't get many at bats.

This seems to be working.  I like Rabbit as my leadoff guy.

This Fantasy Arcade league has more speedy players and lower scoring games. The total stolen bases should shatter the total for previous leagues. I'll look at the stats from previous seasons and see how this league measures against the NES leagues.

The scoring is finally going a little better now that I understand the program and fixing mistakes that I made. It took me forever to fix the scoresheet when I forgot to sub in a pitcher on a couple of occasions and that took time to figure out. So I have weeks 2-3 & 5 left to score.

So as it looks now, week 6 will happen either on Saturday or Sunday depending on how fast I get the stats and leaderboards updated. Consider that scoring a game with no hiccups takes usually 1 hour. With hiccups, ughhh - longer than a hour.

Please be patient for the sake of quality and professionalism. I want the box scores after week 5 to show the updated numbers and we need a leaderboard posted. Once I get done with this, we'll try and do 3 games a week.

Situation update: We are on track for week 6 on Sunday - George Zimmer guarantee!

I just have one game left to score from week 3 and then it's on to week 5 (week 4 and all others are done). I'll finish up week three today (by 11pm my time) and then I'll squeeze in a game from week 5 - then whip it through tomorrow to get week 5 done as well as the post the boxscores and recaps from week 5. And THEN I will be finally caught up.

So no worries about this league going on lockdown or whatever - I am very motivated and passionate about doing the leagues now Trust me, I want to get shit rolling, but I can't until I got the stats updated and the database up to date. 2 games a week we have been averaging, so let's not get greedy here, haha!

Next week I'll try and get 3 games a week and I feel good that will be the norm until it's playoff time.

At some point in the second half, I may start to randomize the errors for each game - I'll run a lottery and even film it and then post it.

Also will try and do a vlog on YT to recap the first few weeks with some analysis, predictions, and all that fun stuff - maybe if I can pull it off the way I want it to broadcast.

Once these stats are updated in the database, this league will have the depth in narrative courtesy of statistics. It'll be worth the wait. The database will update everything once I score a game and that saves huge amounts of time. I got the program down now and it's going much faster. As long as I don't make human errors, things go fast, but I have learned to speed up fixing mistakes.

Sorry for the delay gentlemen, but no worries, I'll will jam these games down everybody's throats and starholes once the database is updated.

One last thing, I am going to give Twitch another go. Nomaaa, expect mail in the forum mailbox. We MUST go live at some point.

There's obviously some sort of cover-up happening. Any truth to the rumors that one or more teams have had multiple members infected by covid?

Darky

No chance! RBI players have super human immune systems meaning they are inherently incapable of being infected of any virus or disease ... except for Sntana and Pedriq.

Blue Footed Boobies (4-1) at Sides of Beef (3-2)

In an early season showdown for 1st place, the Blue Footed Boobies made a strong statement with a resounding 23-14 win over the Sides of Beef at Dakota Taco Buffet Park.

TWilms, FRbnsn, and JBench all homered and combined to go for 16/20 with 13 RBIs. SP Marchl hit a 2 run inside-the-park-HR to help his cause.

After the 4th with the score 13-12 in the Blue Foots favor, Vida Blue took over and never relinquished the lead as he scattered only 8 hits and allowed 2 runs in 5 innings of dominating relief over the #1 scoring team in the league.  The Blue Footed Boobies outscored the Sides of Beef 10-2 after the 4th inning.

The power hitting Sides of Beef only managed to knock out 3 balls out of the park - a season low.

Remind me what the trade deadline situation is for the league. Because I'm pretty much ready to accept any good offers. PANIC TRADING!!!

there are also folks complaining about the lack of Bobby Grich, Dwight Evans, and Willie Randolph.

Trading is open until Week 14. And each individual trade has to be the exact position for position since we drafted strictly by position.
