Got another 7 or 8 games of practice in tonight.  I did some work with STL, and MIN to refresh my memory with those clowns.    I played brian who competes in our local tourneys.  i won all but one game.  a game that i could not get to friggin bruce hurst with detroit.  when clemens came in late i got a lot of gas from him.  got some men on here and there but couldnt get it done.     

Brian played much better than i remember him playing in the past.  possibly cause he wasnt drinking and had his shit together.  saturday is supposed to be a little 3 man RBI session again, and 2 more workouts with nate before i fly out.

joe dirt is giving me a head-ache.

well, i rebounded from my good performance on thursday to completely bomb today.  we did a cotut style 5 game set vs Chad.  won games 1 and 3, and dropped game 2 in extra innings but i pitched pretty well vs the power teams.  still felt good about myself....but dropped the next 2 games in a poor manner.

brian shows up so we redo the whole ordeal again.  once again Im up 2-1 and feeling like im playing alright after 3 games.  felt i played alright but not great.  I then proceed to bomb in the final 2 games.  just not my day.  didnt make many more mistakes than usual, but the couple extra here and there cost me.  also was one of those days where my opponent kept getting hits on the grounder in the infiled holes, where as my balls would always be barely fielded and i'd get thrown out.  very frustrating.

what could go wrong did.  i believe joe dirt when he says the tournaments probably come down to whoever gets hot that day.  dropped 2 games to STL.  both fkn times they got an ass load of cheap hits.  i hate the world and everyone on it right now.  cant wait to just forget about these 10 games and move on.

TOURNEY UPDATE:

Due to the varying amount of players (many people have still committed but not yet formally paid), we are going to go with a round robin format for Saturday's games.

The GREAT thing about this is that it means more games for every player and less of a time crunch...in the past nat'l tourneys, there have been grumbling about time for food, etc (admittedly, it's very difficult to work around 16 different eating/sleeping/shitting schedules)...

Here's an update, please be familiar with these new and improved rules!


* X amount of divisions (determined by number of players...there will be 2-4 divisions)

* A defined amount of games to be played per player with a defined
schedule/list of opponents to be played that day ("Team A to play the following teams on Saturday, no particular time or order...")

* Top 4 records advance to a single elimination tourney on Sunday, seeded 1-4 (please note that this is NOT top team/teams from each division...it is simply 4 best records):

Seed 1 vs. Seed 4 in a 5 game series (team selection = rules from 2005
OH tourney)
Seed 2 vs. Seed 3 in a 5 game series (team selection = rules from 2005
OH tourney)

and then

Winner (seed 1 vs 4) vs Winner (seed 2 vs 3) in a 7 game series (team
selection = rules from 2005 OH tourney) for the championship

In all cases for Sunday's games, the higher seed shall be awarded the
"home team" in regard to team selections.

In the event two or more teams are tied for the right to play Sunday,
then a 1 game playoff shall be played between the teams:

Teams A and B tied: A vs B
Teams A, B, and C tied: A vs B; A vs C; B vs C with best record(s)
winning.  If two teams end up tied still, a 1 game playoff shall be
played
Teams A, B, C, D tied: A vs B; C vs D; winner (A vs B) vs winner (C vs D)

It should be noted that for purposes of seeding only, head-to-head
record shall be used to break the tie (for example, if both teams A
and B are tied for the best record of the day but team A beat team B 1
time vs 0 losses, then team A shall be declared Seed 1).

Team Selections for Saturday Games only:

For each game, there will be a coin flip to determine who is Player A
and who is Player B.  Then one of the ten RBI teams will be randomly
drawn from a deck of cards.  Once that RBI team is identified, that
RBI team will be in the match up.  Player A will pick what team that
RBI team will play against.  Player B will then decide which of the
two chosen RBI teams he wishes to use.  Player A will use the other
chosen RBI team.  Player A will be the home team for that game.  This
process with occur before each RBI game played on  Saturday.

This is still slightly a work in progress.  I will defer to my friend, TBT, to answer any questions on this in my brief absence...

to add on to Joe's post....there will be a best of 5 series for the losers in round one on sunday to determine who places 3rd & 4th.  I dont believe that was outlined above.

a FYI about possible set-ups.

There will be a couple scenarios (as far as how many players end up in this competition) where divisions will come into play.  Ive put TeddyBallGame who is a non participant in charge of randomly creating those divisions as neccesary

Will you only play players in your same division?

No.  The only purpose for divisions is so that others will play the same schedule as you.  Other than that, it's very similar to one giant division.  We wrestled with keeping/deleting the division format, but it is just a better means of organization.
