8)Hey there. Just wanted to ask.  Amongst my posse, who apparently I am the first to discover this website (but I will spread the word), there is a bit of arguing over what is the best way to consistently hit a homer.  Mind you, we play staight-pitch all the time with one drop per at-bat.  I feel that lining your batter up to hit the ball on the sweet spot of the bat and having the bat 90 degrees from the players shoulder right on contact is the best way.  Am I mistaken? Does it differ on each batter? How can I get past the 12/14 runs per game mark. I'm sure some of your will be reluctant to reveal your "secrets."

Welcome Matty, be sure and sign up with a username.  Nothing more impressive to your friends than being at Denny Walling level...

It's good to talk straight pitch, easily my strong suit.  Getting the meat of the bat on the ball when it is completely extended outward (probably what you refer to as 90 degrees) is definitely the key.  For maximum power, give the retreat a shot.  Linkage:

The key to winning in straight pitch is to minimize your mistakes.  Stupid fielding plays, going for the extra bases, hitting the button while fielding balls, hitting into DPs with the pitcher, etc.  This is what'll get ya in trouble.  Straight pitch is all about momentum, never give your opponent more chances than he deserves...

we tried the retreat and it definitely worked.  We hit about 20 HR's apiece and the score got to where we wanted it, and I hit three dongs with Wade Boggs.  What about cocking the bat?  Where you tap A once so the bat has already begun to swing.  Its a quick swing and I've seen it do good things.
If you're bored, you're borING.
