I think that Ken Griffey is often overlooked.  The game moves fast and the defense takes some skill.  There's still only two buttons you use, so its not completely complicated.  I agree that RBI is better, but do you think Griffey comes in second for baseball games?

I remember playing the Home Run Derbys at a friends house once, but didn't play the game itself.  The Derbys were fun...

OMG Baseball Stars ... I made a team from scratch with all players named after MK characters heh. Played that team to the death; all stats maxed on each player. Man I gotta dig that one out now.

One NES baseball game I could never stand was Bases Loaded. Maybe it's just me, but that "behind the pitcher" batting view just didn't work.

great call nihgtwolf. I'll give Basesloaded its props for trying something new...but it jsut didn't work.  Baseballstars is on the legendary status list for alltime sports games

I liked the brawl effect in Bases Loaded. Remember how shitty Major League Baseball was. You'd always get a single if you hit it to 3rd base and the screen turned green for a sec when you hit it.  It was the first game to have real players (I think)
You're going down, chainsaw.

Major League Baseball was a terrible game, I remember buying it right after its release.  And they had the player's numbers instead of their names, which was 10x worse IMHO.  Brutal brutal game...

I liked Ken Griffey baseball, but I have to agree that Baseball Stars is 2nd behind RBI.  I've had some of my most epic battles on RBI and Baseball Stars...even made my Pop throw the control once  ;D

ken griffey baseball is not in rbi's league.  i have to admit that i did spend a week inputing all the players names only to discover that memory didnt last in super nintendo games either...
griffey is the only game in which opposite field homeruns are the norm...

Strange things are afoot at the Circle K

yeah, the opposite field thing is a little obnoxious, and the run-downs are a little rediculous, although it is fun to see people get knocked to crap when a player mows them down.  Its also comedic to see a player run into the wall.  I think you are all failing to add points to comedic value which boosts the games overall fun appeal.  I think Major League has gotta be one of the crappiest ever made if not the crappiest.  There were a gazillion homers (too much for a drinking game, course is there a too much?), and the homeruns took forever for all the players to run the bases.  Plus they had a sound that was supposed to sound liek the umpire calling balls and strikes, but it sounded more like a kazoo.
