Big Apple RBI Champ

I have a problem with the accuracy of the rankings provided.  For example, Bobby Ojeda's curveball is as filthy as anyone in the game, and his "cv" ranking is comparatively low.

How accurate do you think these rankings are?  Are they for NES?

By the way, your nicknames are fuckin' hilarious.

I dont think the rankings could be too accurate.  They have  categories that dont mean anything.  Like the ground ball atribute or contact rating.  Theres only  a couple guys in the whole game that have A contact.

These ranking were taken directly from the game itself, the numbers are stored in the games....

That being said, the numbers don't tell the whole story.  Nobody really knows what the contact rating does, so don't put too much weight in that.  The ground-ball attribute is for real, they cripple a players ability to hit homers.  Some guys like Aldrete still have some pop, but it clearly affects the players...

As far as curve, the left-handed pitchers typically have a lower rating than the righties.  So you have to compare them to the other lefties.  If you do that, you'll see that Ojeda has the 2nd best curve for a lefty, just behind Tudor.  I should make a FAQ question regarding Curve...

PS - I am a curve-pitch newbie, but I don't think Ojeda's curve is anywhere near Bertus or Krukow....

hell no its not...  ojeda is decent when facing a lefty-laden line-up... other wise he is vulnerable...  bert has by far the nastiest curve in the game.

i agree bobby o does not have the curve of tutes or bertus but it is better than gooden, and i believe gooden has a higher curve ranking.  i could be wrong.

btw, gantry... how can you not have armas on your list of 5 best pinch hitters?

i would go:
armas
ruppert
des plaines
burks
maddog

Despite being an all-star pitcher and therefore unusable, Fernando V definitely has the biggest curve on any pitcher, with Bob Stanley not far behind.

Valezuela is the only one who can still throw a strike when the old pitcher-on-third-base glitch happens.

bob ojeda doesnt have the stamina nor the hook to keep runs off the board....coming off the heat that gooden throws, ojeda is a walkover
A couple of jesters? In the court of the king! IS THAT WHAT YOU'RE TELLING ME?!?!?!?

i agree ojeda has limited stamina, but his hook is second tier, behind valenzeula, bertus, tudor and krukow.  as long as he doesn't use any garden tools or get on any boats he will make significant contributions to ribs tourneys for years to come.

ojeda is puss...he can last a few innings against lefty lineups... other than that, look out in the bleachers.
