If you could choose one team (National or American, no All Star Teams) that would benefit the most from using a designated hitter (DH) what team would it be?  Not sure if anyone else has brought this up before and I haven't choosen my team yet.  Also include either straight or curve style if that makes a difference in your choice.  I can see a strong case for Boston, Detroit and Cali.

Interesting question...   Two important things here - a great hitter on the bench and few subs.   For a team like Cali, having Rupperto as a DH means you have to keep Boone or Grich in the game.  Or Pettis...

I think Detroit would have the biggest advantage because they have four capable subs and you really only have to take Herndon out of the lineup.  The puts Sheridan/Madlock in the game with Heath/Bergman for pitcher subs...

Yeah, Sir Gantry is right.  I was gonna say Boston, but you can't go wrong with Det either.

It would be nice to have Armas, Burks, Hendu and Buckner in, though...

My initial reaction to the question of what team would most benefit from a DH was Houston, simply because their lineup is so weak and in need of a boost.  But after a moment's reflection, i came to my senses and knew that no one hitter from that bench could really help that team at all.

I'd put Rupperto in the 5 hole and bump the rest down.  The only reason I personally wouldn't say Detroit is that after Evans, i don't find the rest of the lineup intimidating, and i'm able to get those guys out.  Even Brookens with all the power, is easy for me to get out.  But then again, i'm always playing curve against the computer...
