It is quite odd that Brookens is the #13 power hitter

Because of the strength of his team, Baylor is often overlooked during the "Best Player in RBI" discussions.  The guy can steal bases too.  5 tools.

Dewey never does much for me, so I am surprised to see him that high.

Brookens is a stud, plain and simple.  That lineup gives me nightmares.  Literally.  I have nightmares about facing that squad.

I hit tons more homers with Gallaraga than Sandberg, but Sandberg doesn't make the worst 20 list.

I hit more homers with Danny Heep than HoJo, and HoJo is a lefty and has more power.  I wouldn't be surprised if you get more quality hits/homers out of Gallaraga because he's got a better contact rating.

Just so you can see the difference, here are the power numbers from the players listed in the previous 2 replys:

Hojo=819
Heep=807
Gallarago=759
Sandberg=771

This is usually my line up for NL:
Rains
Murphy
Santiago
Dawson
EDavis
Schmidt
Guerro
Kruk

This leaves only 1 bench player, and is why I think AL is slightly better.  With my AL lineup, I still have 3 bench players I can sub for pitching spots during the game.

The AL is barely even half the team that the NL is.  After the first 4 (I bat big mac first,) nothing in that lineup is scary.

The NL is scary from 1-6 and don't forget about the mormon in the 8 hole.

Add the fact that their pitching is superior and it isn't even close.

Just my opinion.  I think I even devoted an entire thread to the AL team being the most overrated team.  Too lazy to find it...

I agree that Am is overrated.  In fact I think Detroit, Boston, and California all have a better 1-8 lineup (after proper subs are made).  However, the thing that gives Am a slight advantage is that you only need to use 1 sub in their 1-8.  This means that 3 times in a game you can sub a pitcher with at least a normal hitter.  Some people replace Shroeder with Seitzer, however they have the exact same power, so I just leave it.  Only if there are 2-3 runners on, will I sub shroeder with Seitzer (just to get the power boost in his first at bat)

Plus, Am's pitching staff is a ton better than Ca and better than Det...at least in curve.  So that has to count for something.

I don't put much stock in the saving of PHs, anyway.  Take Na for example--why do I need 3 PHers when if I set the line up right, I'd never want to remove anybody anyway?

Just so you can pinch hit for the pitcher spot.  Just think a game where your pitcher bats 2 less times, than a team with only 1 guy left on the bench.  This is a straight pitch strategy though.  I see your point when it is not straight pitch.

Understood, but I firlmly subscribe to the theory that my pitching substitutions are strictly made on pitching needs...I tend to get into trouble when I try to hold out on pitcher substitutions because the of the pitcher  batting next inning.
