Nails

Exciting games between Ryno and Nails to start off week two of the Straight Pitch League.

Game 1 - Hoggs 1, Nails 0 - 9 innings
Game 1 was a classic pitcher's duel as Doc Gooden took the mound against Bert Blyleven.  The Hoggs scored the only run of the game with a 1 out solo homerun by Kirby Pucket in the 1st.  The rest was all up to the pitchers as Gooden and Blyleven dominated, with solid relief from both teams.  In the end, the Hoggs held on for their 1st win of the season.

Game 2 - Hoggs 5, Nails 4 - 10 innings
The Nailbiting continued, as the Hoggs claimed victory in dramatic fashion.  Nails hit 3 homeruns by Dave Henderson, Andre Dawson, and Sweet Lou Whitaker.  The effort was not enough, as the Hoggs pounded homers by Pucket, Ripken, and two by Kirk Gibson, including a walkoff homer in the 10th for the win.

Game 3 - Hoggs 5, Nails 4 - 9 innings
The GM for Nails should've named his team the '62 Mets.  More sharp pitching performances as the Hoggs came from behind and porked Nails.  Doc Gooden shut down the Hoggs for 7+ innings, allowing only one run.   But Nails' bullpen could not hold on, as the Hoggs rallied for 2 in the eighth, and 2 more in the ninth for the win.  Dale Murphy, Dwight Evans, and Gary Carter all hit bombs for the Hoggs, while Will Clark and Andre Dawson went deep for Nails.

All of these games were classics.  Great pitching, clutch hits, back and forth taking of the lead, lots of drama.  Despite dropping to 0-6, it was a hell of a lot of fun.

These may be the only three wins I get this year.

Almost forgot: Last night, Ryno drilled one to left (to the warning track, if there were one) with Bert Blyleven.  Luckily my left fielder struck a pose and made a spectacular diving catch.  It was almost as deep as the shot by Jimmy Key in the Fantasy RBI league a couple weeks ago.  I needed a clean pair of shorts after that.

Bump.

Please post your Week 2 Results on this thread.

during week two I've masturbated 4 times, ate some girl scout cookies, and took 8 dumps.

Can't wait for week 3.

fightonusc

Did you do that all at the same time? Because that would be impressive...

there are also folks complaining about the lack of Bobby Grich, Dwight Evans, and Willie Randolph.

Ryno23

some of those activities were done at the same time.

For example:

while taking a dump I beated off with one had and ate girl scout cookies with the other.

Clash of the (Week 1) Titans

After both going (3-0) in their respective first series, Stock and Lips were set to battle it out for for early supremacy in the RBI Straight Pitch League.

Game 1 didn't disappoint at all!!!!

The Thundercats came out fast and furiously to build up a 6-1 lead through the first 5 innings.  But Stock and his troops wouldn't give up.  They came back to take a 2 run lead of their own late in the game.  Things were looking down for awhile, but the Week 1 stud Go-Go hit a 2 run dinger to mark a 5-run inning to get The Thundercats back into the lead, going into the 9th?  Stock, once again, wouldn't let up...and came through huge to tie the game in the 9th.  With last wraps, all The Thundercats had to do was get a run in.

It just wasn't that easy...

3 innings later, in the bottom of the 12th...The Thundercats prevailed (Stock, help me out here with the "how" if you can) 12-11, to take a (1-0) series lead.

The homers went as follows...

Stock:
Armas 1
DaEvans 2
Hernandez 2
Maldo 1
Laudner 1
Grich 1

While the Thundercats went as follows:
Leonard 2
Jones 1
Jackson 1
Sheridan 1
Schofield 2
Gedman 1

Game two recap to follow...
RBI isn't just a game, it's a lifestyle...

Lips

Game 2 was a little different.

Stock's bats were very cold.  The Thundercats' bats were somewhat cold too, outside of a key sequence of events.

In the 6th/7th inning with 2 outs and The Thundercats batting, Schofield popped one up in the infield.  But as luck would have it, The Bop God dropped a big one on Stock.  And as we say in the Dee-Nee house, "If Bop, then Homer."  It was glorious.

Pendleton homered in Schofield, only to be followed up by a Go-Go homer.  When it rains, it pours.  The Thundercats ended up winning, 8-3.

Things to note:
Stock hit into 5 DPs.
The Thundercats struck out 10 times.
And Pat Sheridan hit a check-swing homer.

Homers...

Stock:
DaEvans 1
Bruno 1

The Thundercats:
Leonard 1
Jackson 2
Sheridan 1
Schofield 1
Pendleton 1
Gedman 1

Lips

Ahhh, Game 3.

It was a very sour ending to the series for The Thundercats, but a bitter sweet one for Stock.

Stock switched up his game plan...and started the game with Jimmy Key.  Let's just say, Key cleaned The Thundercats' clock.

After a 1-1 first inning which saw Bob Brenly lead off with a homer, Stock was playing in a homerun hitting contest...while the Thundercats couldn't even see a pitch.  Everything that The Thundercats hit...went straight up, barely fair/foul...with Stock catching everything, and 3-4 on the wall.  Very impressive for Stock.  Very Dah-Nah for The Thundercats.

Stock ended up whooping me 12-1 in 7 innings.  The Thundercats cut down the strikeouts to 3, but they just couldn't do anything with their bats at all.

Homers...

Stock:
Brenly 1
Armas 1
Hernandez 1
DeCinces 2
Laudner 1

The Thundercats:
The Donut

This would explain why I have 25 runs for the season and 19 HR's.

Fuck moving and never getting to play RBI anymore.  One would think that after playing a game on and off for 15 years that you wouldn't lose it in 6 months but I have completely and totally lost my rhythm at the plate.  I honestly don't even belong in this league.  Hey at least all you guys can count on 3 W's when Parish State comes up on the schedule.

I forgot about that shot from Brookens.  I have no idea how that thing cleared the fence.  There was a little bit of lag at the time which made it hard to see and made it look like a wallzie in left center.

You have the shanks.  It happens.

Jack off a bunch of times and you should be okay.
