Second time in my life that I've hit a homer with Spike Owen!  It was in the 5th off of a fairly fresh John Tudor.  My friend wasn't even drunk.  The celebration was great, as my last Spike homer came in 1998.  Hopefully I don't have to wait seven years for another one!  GO SPIKE

Interesting, I think the last time I let Spike Owen bat was 1998.

Do you normally keep Spike in the lineup?
I've been swimming in raw sewage ... I love it

I have a friend who always leaves him in and inexplicably always has big games with him.  I had beaten the guy like the first 20 times we played until Spike ends up having this ridiculous game.  I made fun of him for leaving him in and he gets a hit.  Next AB was a home run so I plunk him his 3rd time up.  He comes back with a double and then a walk off bomb in the 9th.  I hate that fucking guy almost as much as Doug DeCinces.

Baines may have hit a homer with Baines, yelled Baines and immediately changed into a Baines jersey.

You know who's the best? Baines...

Indeed.  If I got a game like that from a player that shitty I'd make it my username too.

i always leave Spike in.  He is known throughout these circles as "Spike the Dyke"...if you go back and look at my first posts on this forum, around three years ago, there is a lot of Spike Owen reference.  He is the man, I have an autographed 8x10 of him, and I am still bitter that I got sniped on a Spike Owen game used bat on eBay a couple years ago.

iI just saw the real Spike Own at the Texas Longhorns Alumni game on Jan 29th.  He was an honorary coach.  I got him to sign my copy of Nintendo RBI!
It's not how you play the game, it's whether you win or lose.

TempoGL

THAT...IS AWESOME

How long till Spike gets an MLB management gig?

That's pretty cool.  I've been wanting to get somebody to sign a game cartrige for a while.

Reggie Jackson frequents an annual car auction in the town where I live.  He hasn't shown up for the last two years, but when he does, it's my plan to get him to sign my RBI arcade marquee.  I also thought of trying him to sign a "Potatoes/dee-nee" autograph on a card or cartridge.  The next chance will be this September if he shows.

there are also folks complaining about the lack of Bobby Grich, Dwight Evans, and Willie Randolph.

Picpop doesn't seem to like hotlinking.

just sent an IM taunt to the guy who gave up the Spike dinger last week:

Me (1:16:37 AM): "Spike Owen at the plate...he settles in against Tudor.  Tudor winds and delivers!  Spike got good wood on that one!  Don't tell me, that one might make it!  Stretch!  Stretch!  YOU CAN PUT IT ON THE BOARD, YES!  Spike Owen goes yard for the first time in eight years!  The crowd is going berserk as Spike the Dyke rounds the bases...This, ladies and gentleman, is a great day in baseball history!"
Him (1:17:08 AM): oy vey
Me (1:17:08 AM): Opposing manager Goldberg is thoroughly humiliated

You played against Goldberg? Ask him what it was like to get booed out of the arena at Wrestlemania last year.

And fix your fucking aviator!

Just noticed that Owen went yard off Tudor, that's a tough lefty-lefty dinger.  Most impressive...

If you get a pic of that autographed RBI, I'll definitely throw it up on the Media Page

TempoGL

what does my aviator look like?  Mine still displays Macho Man's titties.

Yes, I played against Goldberg.  Not Bill Goldberg though.  Although when he was popular, my version of Goldberg did have a shirt that said "GOLDBERG: WHO'S NEXT?"
