Team ROMS.

Say you're a Cub fan like me.

You can have a ROM with the 1908, 1945, 1969, 1984, 1989, 1993, 1998, 2003, 2004, etc teams.

The Yankees could field 8 or 9 good ROMS.

That sounds like a very good idea, settle the great debates once and for all...

I thought of doing this with the Mets, and then came to the conclusion that there are only about 5 or 6 teams worth doing.   :(

Try coming up with 10 great Cub teams.

Okay, try coming up with 10 good Cub teams.

Fuck it, try coming up with 10 competitive Cub teams.

A few other ideas i've had, which could be done by someone more ambitious than I:

1. Classic Rivalries ROM:   Sox vs. Yanks, Cubs vs. Cardinals, etc.  Rosters would include all-time best players by position.

2. Pitcher's Homerun ROM:   Lineups where every hitter has a pitcher's capability.  You could just play "Watch" games and see what happens.   The goal would be to finally determine whether a pitcher could conceivably hit a homerun.   I've never seen it happen, but I know people have said it's possible.

A few months ago I created a "Best of 2004" ROM, which is basically a collection of last year's best players.  Maybe I'll post it this weekend.

I like this idea, someone make the ROM

I'm bored, and it won't take long to do.   I'll do it now.

#7
Here it is.

All players, despite having the usual # of homeruns and batting average, all have a power rating of 640.   I made their contact ratings 0, to maximize the quality of each hit.  Also, player speeds are 110, in order to help prevent an in-the-park homerun.  Pitching abilities were not modified.

Also, I disabled BOPs (every team's error rating is zero).   Balls and strikes don't count, forcing the players to hit the ball.  And there is zero power boost for pinch-hitters.  The number of runs needed to call the game is 255.   All sounds were disabled except the homerun sound.

Edit - all pitchers have 0 drop, 195 speed for knuckle, slow, and fast pitches, and 195 endurance.

On another note, the ROM is available for all users in Nightwulf's editor.

Nails, I thought about doing the all pitchers rom once, since I've never seen a pitcher homer.  Then I realized I'd want to kill myself playing those games.  Another thought I had was to make the pitchers horrible, just to increase the chances of a dinger.  Hopefully someone will try it out.

Yeah, I have absolutely no desire to play this ROM.  That's why I figured the "Watch" feature would be the best way to approach it.

If anybody uses this ROM, you must record the game to video.  Otherwise, we'll all assume that it was nothing but an in-the-park.

Does anyone else think that these ROMs are really not that crazy (not saying they are not good ideas, and could all make good ROMs) just not crazy.

like a foxxxy bitch?

Seriously, I'd be glad to do a ROM.  I think a Cubs / Cards ROM would be good.

Should they be 4 of the same years plus an all-time team for each club?

2005
1998 -- sammy V McGwire
1984 -- Sandberg V McGee
1968 or 69 -- Santo V Gibson
All Time Teams

You could actually set the timing on your emulator to go super speed, and you could just see at the end if anyone homered.
