Purple Cobras has already let it been know that we have started a league online.

;D  www.rbionline.bravehost.com   ;D

I am here to report on the success of the league and to let it be known that their will be a league starting on May 4th.

Their are at least 2 spots availible in the new league as of now, and it is possible that more than 2 could join if we feel they will be competitive. ( com-pet-i-tive: to play a good amount of games and not get rocked for 25 runs every single game )

The rest is more info on the leagues if you are still interested... be sure to post what you think about the league !
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

April League

With a few of the teams not qualifying for the playoffs it leaves only 6 to compete.  Our regular season only lasted about 3 weeks, and the playoffs will be best of 5.

Main Problems

-After a few days, the Prez and I soon found out that detailed stats was just too much to keep for every game without getting paid... so we moved to team stats.
-Some teams didn't play games.

May League
We are pretty sure we have 8 players right now who will be competitive ( meaning above). Recording the games is no longer mandatory or expected in any way, only a screen shot is required for proof.  The only reasons you would what to record is to show us when someone plays unfairly, or to send in your top plays to be put up for nomination ( a very good reason I might add ).

Our league is based on honesty, so If you plan on cheated or tying to bend the rules in any way, please don't try to join.

Make sure to visit the sight and look around... tell us what you think.

The page looks great, and I've added a link on the main site and the links page.  Hopefully you guys can fill out that roster.  Keep us updated!

I'm going to take your NES controller and jam it so far up your ass that you'll need to learn how to work the 'A' button with your small intestine.

Quote6. Go to Config and make sure PAL Emulation is checked... if not then click it.

I'm dying to know why you're forcing PAL timing on an NTSC ROM ...

Nightwulf

TommyD (MrOJ)

You have to play using PAL emulation, otherwise the people playing play 2 totally different games... What's the point though, why does it matter?  Does it do something wrong?

Thanks,

PAL is a color encoding used by televisions in other countries.  It shouldn't have anything to do with multiplayer synchronization.  According to the site, you're using FCEUltra 0.98.10 - I've played online with that emulator before, and I've never had to touch that setting.

TommyD (MrOJ)

Well anytime me and anyone else tried to play without it, we played 2 completely different games.... so really if it doesn't harm anything then it should be fine right?

As far as I know, it shouldn't hurt anything.  And if it works for you, you may as well use it.

PAL games (and systems) refresh at 50Hz, whereas NTSC games (and systems) refresh at 60Hz. Mixing them introduces all kinds of timing differences, as the ROM is refreshing the screen 60 times a second but the emulator is only doing so 50 times a second. It's not necessarily harmful, but it's not required, and can cause interesting graphics glitches since ten frames a second go unused ...

So far the May league is exactly like the April, check in on the forums and see...

No pinch hit bonus, not gonna allow switch hitters to bat as lefties, so on and so forth, it's ridiculous so far (I'm the "NorthStars", OctoFranco is "UniformedHumans", for what it's worth)

Attezzobal,

I actually don't get it... you complain about my league to TRY to start stuff and make it look bad... I just don't understand why?  OK, I'm not letting people pick Left handed for their switch hitters but do u realize its like that for EVERYBODY... im not cheating and letting ppl have it different.... im making it they bat with their throwing hand... much easier and less hassle for the ROM... U seem to go the EXTRA effort to make my league look bad, it's quite sad  :(

Actually all I wanted was a 10-team competitive RBI League where 10 teams played each other and had fun but competed to win.... not a league where everyone complains about what their switch-hitters bat and what trades are fair and unfair, especially when it takes TWO people to make a trade work!

Please, I don't understand why you don't talk to me, just complain to the whole RBI world... u've still never IMd or PMd me about one problem u have, u just do personal attacks on forums?

Thanks,
Tommy (PREZ)

PC/Tezz,

I think I can see both sides here.  I do think PC should have a chance to deffend his position before posting things on the forums though.  Maybe in the future, send him a PM or an email with your thoughts, and give a chance to respond.  I honestly don't see the problems with any sets of rules, as long as everyone knows what they are from the beginning of the season.  Afterall, nobody is forcing you to play.  However, if PMs or emails are ignored, and rules change in the middle of the season, then any bashing is fair game.

I think it is great that PC is running a league, and I know how hard it is to make everyone happy with the rules.  As I am the commish of the Str8 Pitch League, there were several rules I ended up changeing that were different from what my vision was.

Yeah, but that's because you're vision sucked because you wanted "a" balls only!

In my opinion, knuckle balls are not "straight pitches".  But you got your way, so not sure what the problem is.

No problem here--just pointing out the fact.

Sorry Joe.  Didn't realize that knuckle balls that drop and bounce off the plate are defined as str8 pitches.  At first I thought that was your opinion.  Now I know it to be fact.  ::)

you misunderstand--i'm not saying a knuckle (that drops or doesn't drop) is a straight pitch--i'm saying that you got your way in that we're not allowing curves to be thrown, aka, we're playing a version of straight pitch, not anything goes.
