The chapter on Donnie Moor in One Pitch Away was quite good, and quite scary.  His wife went through a lot of shit with Donnie.  Seems a little off her rocker when being interviewed for the book, but then again being shot in the neck tends to do that...

I was glad to get that chapter out of the way in the beginning, so that I could enjoy the rest.  Depressing story to say the least, although I think it was even worse on TV.  I saw a show that told the whole story quite a few years ago, and to put faces and images to it made it even creepier.  I don't remember much detail about his wife's behavior, but I think she came off a little more level headed.

I've been swimming in raw sewage ... I love it

She wasn't completely loony, but some of her discussions were a little off.  But then again, it probably isn't an easy thing to discuss.  IIRC, she was shot multiple times and made it through.  Not to mention dealing with her husbands depression, alcoholism and beatings.  Take a strong lady to get through all she did...

Absolutely, I was amazed how she managed to cope through all that and then carry on afterwards.

I guess when you get right down do it, you don't have much of a choice.  Not that what she's done isn't admirable but life goes on.  She had to be strong for her kids at the very least, that's gotta be hella traumatic...

Nacho

This may be asking a lot, but can someone summarize what happened with the Moore fiasco?  I know he committed suicide, but what added detail does the book provide?

Bumping

New book on 1970's A's has been terrific (Dynastic, Bombastic, Fantastic).  Most of the A's arcade roster is covered (Reggie, Tenace, Bando, Vida Blue).  Highly recommend.

Only half way through, doesn't sound like he was so bad in the Oakland years.  Charley Finley on the other hand was pretty much a lunatic, but also a marketing genius.

Just came here to post this.

"Police say that officers were called to Knight's home at 4:00 a.m. on Sunday after an argument between Knight and a 33-year-old male acquaintance turned into a fight."

This reads like he's being outed in a sneaky, shady way.
