The 2nd ever RBI tourney for us was a hit.  We are keeping our teams from the tourney and making it into a league.  Anything goes style pitching, and we use the 2 starting pitcher rule.

We randomly selected teams into the American and National league.  Next i need to complete a small 18 game schedule, and were all set.  We'll prolly start play next week.  I'll edit the standings as we play the games.  I'm also thinking of keeping some basic stats on HR's, RBI's and pitchers W-L and save records.

American League
Boston(Brad)            0-0
New York(Brian)        0-0
Minnesota(Jeff)         0-0
St. Louis(Chad)         0-0

National League
Detroit(Chad)            0-0
San Francisco(Jeff)    0-0
California(Brian)        0-0
Houston(Brad)          0-0

Detroit just won the tourney so they will be an early favorite to be champion.  I'm gonna go out on a short sturdy limb and say that Boston could get the 1 seed in the American league.  You will play each team in your league 4 times and each team during interleague twice for a total of 18 games.  Still tenative, but looks like we will seed teams from each league 1 facing 4 and 2 facing 3.  Then the winners advance to play in LCS, and then finally in the world series.  Probably have best of 3 in the first 2 rounds, then go to a best of 5 for the world series.

Schedule made up so far.  we got 18 games set up, and i believe were going to add in a randomly selected extra set of inter-league games for week 7, making a total of 20 games for each team.  also the extra 2 might help or hinder some teams if they get to draw HOU and STL, or if they have to play DET.

hdunlo

this is sweet; i love stuff like this.

one suggestion i would make is to only have 2 teams from each league advance to the playoffs. because if everyone makes it to the playoffs, you are essentially playing the same tournament you recently played. it devalues the regular season quite a lot to have a free pass for everyone into the postseason. the last 25% of your season would be so intense if teams were fighting for playoff spots.

I agree with hdunlo...

You guys are going to stick to the schedule every week?  I admire your dedication...

hdunlo might be onto something, thats a good point.  i'll run it by the guys, and see what they think. they'll probably wanna keep it with 4 seeds in each league though.

Gantry, i set up the schedule so that we could pair off into 2's each week for the games.  easier that way, then trying to get 4 guys together all at once.  should only burn up about an hour and half for the 6 games, if the pitchers dont dilly dally around on the mound  ;D

last summer we had 4 guys and played tecmo bowl league where we did 12 weeks of scheduled games in just under 3 months.  organization is the key. ;)

im really stoked about this season, and spent some uber time concocting strategies and rotations and crap like that. BOS will destroy all, and HOU will get a few splits in thier series play.

I agree that organization is the key there, keep on it.  Even with games split off and games not taking long, it's oftentimes difficult to get people to consistently come to the same place every week for games.  Shit, it's tough (outside of football season) to get the whole dee-nee crew together for games even once a month, let alone weekly...
