i threw a party the other night and had RBI 2k5 on 2 TV's and i took some opinions.  keep in mind this wasnt an RBI party, but all the RBIer's that play got the chance to play the new ROM

first thing... Mike Mussina needs to have the nastyiest curves in the game... hes only throin high 80's and his shit is garbage... where as randy johnson throws 102 [which is absolutly perfect] but his curves are great. mussinas a finesse pitcher... i had several people tell me they cant use him because he's crap.

next... noone played with oakland AT ALL the entire night... concensis [cant spell] say they need to get the hell OUT@!...

Tino over Giambi is a great thing... everyone loved it

Jason Schmdt already hit a decisive homerun... that is a great move to give him any batting points... his homerun went through the wall, but it counts.

our suggestons... Baltimore to replace Oakland... no question

and 2002 is over... anahiem may have a decent record but who likes them... they have one exciting guy on their team... unlike San Fransico, Vlad isnt as big of a draw to pick the team for 1 player.... bring in the Mets and this game would be perfect

structural critizism... if thats what its called

i love the game reguardless of these suggestions

love u guys  :)

Good recap owen, don't worry about being too critical.  Beefmaster is a level-headed guy and I don't think he'll take offense.  Getting more people playing the custom ROMs is most definitely a good thing, keep it up!

BeeJay

Mike Mussina's a finesse pitcher who had an era over 4 1/2 last year.  It isn't 1994 anymore.

whether its 1994 or not is irrelivant... mike mussina has better braking stuff than anyone in baseball including his RBI mate Randy Johnson

>:( ;)

beefmaster is going to go emilio on your ass. . .. this you can be sure of.

beef master is a hero of mine trust me. anyone who can make such a thing happen is destined for greatness.  i mean him no harm... we're very loyal to the 2K-RBI series and we just thought we'd give our honest opinion. if nothing is done about it nothing is done.

i respect anyone who even reads this passage for they love RBI as much as i do.

You can always make your own adjustments with Nightwulf's RBI editor.

I've been swimming in raw sewage ... I love it

I am actually a fan of the Angels in the 2005 ROm, Chone Figgins is fast.
What do you got there, the 4 volt? I did you a favor.

BeefMaster

I will fucking kill you.

Just kidding...  Thanks for the feedback - I'm glad you enjoyed the ROM.

The A's were pretty much the next-best team in the AL last year, which is why they're on the ROM.  I made the ROM toward the end of Spring Training, when I didn't yet know they were going to suck.  If/when I make another revision, they'll be gone.  I probably won't pull out the Angels, though - malnuboy and TeddyBallgame are fans of them, and they are in first place, so it seems like they should stay.

Mussina probably should be better, but I wanted the ROM to reflect the fact that he wasn't all that great last year.  RBI doesn't have much besides curve and speed to do that with.  After playing the ROM a bit myself, though, I realized that I probably need to crank up pitcher speed across the board - Johan Santana is barely hitting 90, and there are some others that are similarly too slow.

I'm trying to figure out if I want to redo the ROM now, and if so, what teams to add/remove (I'd like to add the White Sox, Mets, Cubs, and Orioles, but there aren't four teams I want to remove).  For now, I think I'll let it sit for awhile longer while I think about it and watch the season develop.  You're certainly invited to add the Orioles or any of your other favorites - I made it available for other users to edit on nightwulf's RBI Editor.  The link is in Nails' post, and the editor is pretty easy to use.

Here's a funky RBI Idea.

Create a 2005 Rom for each MLB division (AL East, West, Central, etc).

Have the computer play a short season within each division (3 gm series against each opponent).

Determine a wild card --- how?  I don't know.

Make a play off rom.

Have the computer play the 2005 playoffs.

See who RBI predicts to be this years world series champ.

It would take 6 dedicated dee-nee'ers to do this, but it might be fun.

Then, we could make a 2005 ROM that represents the best 2005 RBI teams :D

I'll volunteer for the NL Central.

Just curious--what system were you using to play the ROM on a tv?

i'm guessing he was using a mac.  I know it's fairly easy to put the mac screen on a TV.

I'm not so sure about doing this with a PC.

Gantry

With the right video card, outputting your PC to your televisions ain't that difficult.  Getting more and more common lately, many laptops have the video output built right in...

BeefMaster

Ryno, I was thinking of something vaguely similar to your suggestion - an AL ROM and an NL ROM.  It would allow more teams, providing room for popular-yet-mediocre teams like the Cubs and teams like the Brewers that would be fun to try out.  Problems with this idea: You wouldn't be able to play a World Series, and it would require me to put together ratings for 10 more teams (the first is a bigger concern than the second).

I could also try to put together a vote, if people want to choose what teams are on a single ROM.  My gut feeling if we go by popular demand:

Yankees
Both Sox
Twins
Angels
Cubs
Mets
Orioles
Cardinals
Dodgers, maybe?

What would people think of this?  From the current version, this would drop the Braves, Giants, Athletics, and Astros, leaving a 6-4 AL-NL imbalance and at least one division leader missing.  If this isn't a problem, though, I can try to put it together.  I'm still not sure whether I want to make any ratings tweaks for hitters this early in the season.  Pitcher ratings probably need a little work anyway.

I think a separate AL and NL ROM may be the way to go, but then again I'm not doing all the work.  The sheer number of teams is what makes it fun, even if you have to cut out a few matchups...

i play my RBI ROM's through my xbox... just burn them onto a CD and it loads like normal

:)

I think that would be kinda cool too.  Whether it's 3 ROMs with everybody like that one a couple years ago or maybe just an AL ROM and NL ROM that contain just the best teams and others that people here have an interest in.  It may not be too bad for somebody if fans of those teams could give input kind of like on the first pages of the RBI 2K5 thread.  I know I'd be willing to do it for the Reds.  Their lineup of high power, no contact hitters is just screaming to be on RBI.

Baines may have hit a homer with Baines, yelled Baines and immediately changed into a Baines jersey.

You know who's the best? Baines...

Did you have to do anything special to the cd or Xbox to get this to work?  I may have to give this a shot.
