16 grams is a bit more than a half ounce, which is less than one would expect to find if he was doing some heavy selling, but more than most people would need for just a night or two of smoking.  If it was good stuff, it was probably worth a couple hundred dollars at most, or as little as about $50.

There are 28 grams in an ounce.  16 grams is nowhere near 4.8 ounces.  If you got arrested with an ounce, then you are generally in a whole lot of shit, depending on your local ordinances/state's laws.
