I feel personally wronged by the lack of respect that St. Louis gets on this site.  You can really mess with guys on the basepaths.  If Coleman or Smith get on base with no outs, they score 90% of the time.  Plus, Tudor is nasty through 6- Dayley goes 7,8- Worrell 9.  I've won more than I've lost with Herzog's team.

Get into rundowns on purpose.

By the way, this site taught me the "B" button pressing trick in rundowns.  Brilliant.  It has taken my game to another level.

i dont know who you are playing there nyc champ but rundowns are not a good way to win if you are playing anyone with experience.    yes coleman is fast but he is followed by smith and herr( the worst 3 hitter in the game)  they usually pop the ball up which does not move coleman from first base... and he isnt even a lock to steal second... of course, coleman has to get on first...you cant steal that base.

i agree that the only way to win with st louis is to play small ball...wreaking havoc on the basepaths...bunts, infield hits and such. but they are in no way reliable and as gwynn said, anyone who has experience will not be fooled by the rundown gags...
A couple of jesters? In the court of the king! IS THAT WHAT YOU'RE TELLING ME?!?!?!?

I also agree with bban and gwynn - st. louis can compete at time but they cannot provide you with the offense from game to game.  I have a newfound respect for them in straight-pitch, but they still lack the firepower to handle the big boys...

Also agree with them regarding rundowns - if you get a few techniques down rundowns and stolen bases are no longer an issue...

all that aside...  using the cardinals against someone with no experience will frustrate the hell out of the newbie...  against anyone else  good luck...

i think one of the most competitive match-ups in the game is cards vs. stros... while it isnt detroit vs. boston, it doesnt lack for drama.

Your only chance with the cards is to pitch as good as you can and hope u get a homerun from JClark or Lindeman.
