Don't get me wrong, I'm not against another tourney.  I had a lot of fun playing!

ROOTS, people.  ROOTS!!!!

I just think more time would be availiable to hang/chill/drink/scream/eat/poo/fart/sleep/golf/lemonparty.

I say Boston / New England because it's near me and I'm pretty awesome.
Just ask Troogs how awesome.

If we got a hotel in downtown Chicago...that would work much better though.

hotels are not cheap, or even close, downtown.
Naperville has close hotels with shuttles, for free, to take you where you want as long as you get a party of at least 10 I think. The wedding I was at a few weeks ago, we stayed at one in naperville. since we got at least 5 rooms, I think it was, their shuttle picked us up from the reception hall and dropped us off, in reverse order.
Bearfucker! Do you need  assistance?!

I live in Wheeling, which is about 10-12 miles northwest of Chicago.  But for those who know Chicago, it's a LONG ten miles to get to Chicago proper.  And even then it's the west end of the city...

Downtown Chicago is absolutely out, it's WAY too fucking expensive to stay there.  Most any hotel in chicago around the fun/bar areas are going to top $100-120 a night on the weekend.  The biggest bonus of the dee-nee house is free loding.  There is also one solid dive called the Old Munich that we could own for one night.  It's in the same city, making it easy to get to...

Like I said, we could take a partybus downtown one night.  We did that for my buddy's bachelor party and it worked out perfectly.  Picked us up in Chicago and a limo dropped us off at home around 3am.  If we puhled money, it's not too pricey...

I've been to Naperville plenty of times - it's a nice town, but I'm not big on that idea.  As a self-contained town it's nice and has plenty of stuff to do.  But people who never been here are going to want to visit Chicago, and Naperville is at least an hour away with traffic.  It is also a huge problem with rides to/from the airport, as that is another hour each way to Ohare/Midway...

One other distinct possiblity is me moving.  It may happen, but if I do move it'll be back to the city, about 10 minutes away from the airport.  That would make everything dee-nee, but it's WAY too early to commit to that one....

Austin would be a kick ass city too.  Shit tons of bars downtown which are fairly cheap due to the high college student presence.  Plus, you can get a cab anywhere in Austin for 5-8 bucks a car load of 4.
Round Rock (15 minutes north of Austin) has a AAA baseball team (the one Nolan Ryan owns).  Or the National Champion Longhorns play right down town.

I am sure the cons outweigh the pros here, but would be a blast.  Plus, could schedule it any time of the year since it only gets to about 50 degrees at the coldest down here.

I think at this point I am still pulling for the dee-nee house.
Pros:
Free Lodging (this one is huge)
Dive bar nearby
Large fridge stacked with beer.
Some people would have cars for food/alcohol runs etc..
party bus to go downtown one night?
Cheaper flights (since a huge airport)
It's the dee-nee house

Cons:
The Cubs

I said it once and I'll say it again - stock is smart

There is also the Schaumburg Flyers around here, about 20 minutes away.  We definitely wouldn't go to wrigley because it would be impossible to get that many seats cheaply.  Plus it's a fkn zoo and getting home would suck ass...

I really enjoyed the minor league game.  It was beer, baseball and laid back.  Not crowded, nobody cared about the game, yet it was a blast to be there.  I think the Flyers would be simliar.  Plus Matt Nokes was on the roster (as a PLAYER) about two years ago.  Shit, maybe he's still there!

i think if someone steps up to host and would commit to running everything, then dee-nee would go to them.

if you build it, they will come.

one thing that i'm assuming is that a smaller hotel in a midsized city, just like you guys had in cbus, would be key.  i'm sure atezzokdfdfl smoothed over some things that might have gotten you thrown out of other higher priced or classier hotels.

not sure if i would attend, but here are my votes in order:

1.  chicago  (or gantry's or troogs')
3.  milwaukee
4.  memphis
5.  vegas
(or sweden, i hear they have a really hot nitelife where they don't look down on one night stands, huh huh huh)

but like i said, i think all it would take is for someone to commit to doing it and get the ball rolling, we're all lemmings at that point.

I don't really know the specifics, but I remember looking into the Metra system to get into Chicago when I was staying in Elgin. Is that a possibly lower-cost option for people who'd like to spend some time in Chicago but still reap the benefits of no-cost lodging?

I don't honestly know what's going to end up happening to me, but chances are good that I'll be moving to San Antonio in August. So, I'm a little biased towards Austin. :)

Regardless of where it is though, I'll be making every effort to attend.

I hear what you guys are saying about the price of nicer hotels in Chicago.

The problem is...this past weekend, we were forced to do things in big groups.  I like big groups; big groups are cool.  We had awesome times!!!!  But my point is...there was absolutely no luxury of walking down/across the street to grab a beer (or a bite to eat at a restaurant), on your own free will, whenever you wanted, with just a couple people.

I'm not sure if there weren't any establishments nearby our C-Bus hotel, or if we just didn't know of any.

In terms of the Dee-Nee house, a 5-minute drive could get you to a few bars/restaurants...and more importantly a Taco Bell (which opens at 10am?).

I think the downtown party bus would definitely be something that we would have to do, for a night (if we end up doing Da Burbs of Chicago)!

I'd show up for some/all of anything in Chicago area and probably anywhere within a 5-6 hour drive, anywhere else, I couldn't guarantee.  I'm also in the non-drinking group, but would still go to hang out.  My preference is to play a bunch of RBI, tourney or not.

The Raiders are a successful organization

Gantry

Agreed Lips, but the logistics of that are going to be tough no matter what.  Virtually anyplace with the ability to walk anywhere is going to exclude a bunch of people because of the prices involved to lodge there.  Or are you saying the dee-nee house is better for that than CBus?

One of the things I think many people agreed upon is a little less "drunk time" - note that I said a little less, not elminated.  I think TBT, GDavis and Malnu can vouch, that Sunday was one of the more enjoyable times because we all had a chance to hang and actually spend sober time with internet friends.  If that ended up happening, there is plenty of stuff to go to while driving in Wheeling.  This also makes it more fun for those who don't drink..

I'm all for having the gathering in the city itself.  But unless I move there, it's going to be virtually impossible to make it economically feasible for those on the financial fence.  Unless I move there before the next tourney but that is well under 50% at this point...

Gantry

There is a Metra in Wheeling, so that is an idea for those who want to visit.  Transportation will be provided to and from.  I'd say it's a good 60 minutes to hit The Loop (downtown) tho.  Not positive, havne't taken it in a LONG time...

Gerlost

Another vote for either Chicago or Memphis (or KC).

Being one of those non-drinkers, and also wanting to drive to whatever town it would be in, the only thing that concerns me is not having to fly.  Money for lodging/food/baseball isn't an object since I'm a mooch with no expenses (yet) and I can save up whatever I'll need.

BDawk

I'll go with East Coast, even though it's apparent that Gantry is avoiding my suggestions of Boston because he knows how much it would hurt him if I wasn't inconveninced.     >:(

TβG

make it so you can vote for like three different places and let's come up with 5-7 locales

chicago, milwaukee, memphis, vegas, KC, austin, boston, hazzard

I believe The Dee-Nee House would be better than the C-Bus hotel, in terms of food/beer proximity.  But if a lot of people have to end up staying at The Dee-Nee house, look out.  What would be the sleeping arrangements?  2 in Sperling's old room?  3 in my old room?  2 in Potsie's old room?  6 on the first floor?  5 in the basement?

The drive to the airport isn't too bad (25 minutes), either.

i wanted to vote for more than one!

Gantry

Well we have two beds that hold two people, one bed that holds one person and three couches.  That is non-floor arrangements for 6 people.  If I know in advance I'll score at least two bed/futon/air mattresses.  After that ,there is hella floor space.  Eight people will sleep well...

25 minutes isn't "bad" per say, but if I have to make that trip 4-6 times in the first day, it'll suck balls. Plus friday traffic on 294 South is the worst thing you can possibly experience...
