Yes we went down again at the exact same fucking time, unbelievable.  This time it was a line problem with the T1, all AT&Ts fault.  Worst... timing... ever...

We've had more outages in the last 2 months than the previous 6 years combined, continue your day.  I am going to shoot myself now...

The "monday evening slowness" thing happened again, this time I planned to be at the server so I can figure out what is going on.  Basically something is running a database check/scan on the message table, which is HUGE and pretty much slows everything to a crawl until it is finished.   Time to see what the SMF admin is doing, maybe it's something in there...

And I purposely stopped the website and ethernet connection to make sure nothing from the outside was causing the slowdown, my apologies.  But hopefully I can get it fixed now...

Maybe? Not sure when it's running, since it doesn't allow you to specify a time/date.

From the SMF forums:

"Really with a largeish forum you should disable the automatic optimization of tables and do it manually when there is low traffic."

I'd say a 125MB messages file counts as "largeish" - kind of silly how it doesn't allow you to specify a time.  I could be brave and set the clock back to see what happens but I'm content just assuming this fixed it...
