I made a 2000 playoffs edition of RBI ... teams are CHW / NYY / OAK / SEA / ATL / NYM / STL / SF / AL / NL ... I always thought that the 2000 playoffs was the most entertaining in recent memory ... The subway series; a great series between the Braves and Mets; the rise of Barry Zito; and the fall of Rick Ankiel (both included in this file) ... I made the All-Star teams out of players who were on the 2000 AS teams but whose teams didn't crack the playoffs. Not sure if anybody would really use it since it's a tad out of date, but It's a cool one to remember.  Lemme know if you find anything wrong.

The only thing I do not like is the fact that the fastest person on your ROM is 140.. this is quite low for the fastest... as far as speed goes, I don't consider someone fast until 142, maybe even 144.

I'm going to take your NES controller and jam it so far up your ass that you'll need to learn how to work the 'A' button with your small intestine.

fknmclane

I think it's a great idea and the ROM runs just fine.

Fernando Valenzuela can play every position, including the umpire, and does every night of the week, and nothing can stop him.

sfbennett1

Thanks for the feedback -- fixed up the speed thing ... Here's a txt file of the player stats.

MR RBI

Who is the number eight hitter on the Mets .For some reason i have no idea who it is and if it's Mike Bordick i don't remember him playing for us.May be possible he did. Also is there a way to make the computer harder. It seems a little like they pitch better.

sfbennett1

It is indeed THE Mike Bordick -- in 2000 he was traded at the deadline from the Orioles to the Mets for a group of players, most notably Melvin Mora ... I did make the computer pitching a little better -- Pedro, Rivera, and Nen are probably the most difficult to hit.

MR RBI

Overall its great.Could you make one for 88 playoffs and  a 2005 season which includes the Mets?

I want a hamburger... no, a cheeseburger. I want a hot dog. I want a milkshake...
"Thank you Mr. Toilet Bowl..thank you for being cool on the side...you're the only one that understands me."

nightwulf

BeeJay's milkshake brings all the boys to the yard.

Beejay will get nothing and he will like it.  But 50 bucks says he picks his nose and eats it.

anyways... back to the point of 140 being the fastest?  Does everyone agree with this or something??? Or are ya'll to sissyish to step up to the plate and admit something is lacking from the ROM... he wanted an honest opinion and I gave it to him.  Great ROM, great effort, I just feel the speed is off.. very off..

You were right, I went back and changed the speeds, moving most faster players up 5 points...they top out around 145 now (Knoblauch, Durham, etc...). In the original RBI Vince Coleman was a 146 and Lou Brock was a 148 (arcade), so I think 145 being the fastest is about right for 2000, considering Coleman/Brock were stealing over 100 bases a year. If you want the edited file it's about 5 posts up in this thread. And again, thanks for the feedback.

Also though, you have to think about coaches IQs rising and catchers arms are much stronger than in Brocks era.. but i get the point
